While valid, Popovic has the easy scapegoat of 'he wasn't what we were looking for.' I'd like a football educated person to challenge that in front of the camera and have him lay out exactly what he is looking for. Like Arnold with Elder he just deflected it saying he went alright but we have other options. All of who, we're poor.
 
Poppa is a great coach, but it's bad luck for us that we have one of the least youth friendly aussie coaches at a time when youth are on the rise

There is got to a moment in the future where the youth take over, I feel like this is a hold up period where initially it was poorly handled by Arnie and Popa is in a must win situation to make the World Cup so it’s too late for this campaign.

I would love the u23 generation and below to be the main playing group for the 2030 edition.

to be honest thought arnie was doing mostly great with youth
chased circati for 18 months and got him
played irankunda before he left for europe
gave a debut for kuol
played bos pretty regularly at a young age
pursued volpato (but no luck)

he might have screwed up with robbo, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt unless we hear both sides of that
 
No triantis is interesting assuming he’s too similar for the likes of O’Neill and Irvine.

Tilio omission is surprising as well, assuming both will available for the China match.

I think he played it too safe and keep the old guard from the 2022 World Cup where it needed a reset.
 
We could see some shuffles to youth for the world cup if we make it. We need to remember we have many injuries. You'd be made not to take Irankunda.

I thought the benefit of triantis would be that he could let irvine go further forward where he is more effective and can use his creativity
 
So much red on Twitter. Good on them. Potentially all in one section though like against Vietnam in Melbourne.

the danger of that is if it is clear to the players that the ones who qualify will be different to the ones who play it is less motivating to qualify

i worry that was a factor in our disasterous olyroos campaign
