They were talking about Viduka and his possible retirement. One host said, could someone else step into his role? The other bloke said, I think you are selling Archie Thompson short if you think Mark Viduka is irreplaceable. These were two Rugby League hosts and it shows the cut through the GG had. But boy did it highlight the lack of football knowledge.

Totally agree.. I said the same thing during the Matildas hype regarding "new devotees" and got lambasted royally on here...

IS/442 Matilda's thread.... discussion about Matilda's crowd not translating (or translating depending on your position) to improved Aleague women's crowds... I dared to suggest the squealing girls in the stands during the WWC were more excited to see women playing professional sport, any sport, rather than true football fans .. it did not go down well with some.

The attack is obvious. Geria to narrow Boyle to Irvine and and peel off. Decent when space is afforded. Now imagine that with a forward facing technical able bunch like Toure, Irankunda and Robertson/Nisbet. I really do hope something is brewing.

Also the half paced moments where firm square balls and movement are needed are made for Metcalfe and Bos. Those two just have to be the wing backs. Bos skinned 3 Japanese players on a long run.

I'm keen to replace Miller with Metcalfe at RWB.

Met - great athlete, better technician than Miller too, plus has gone close to scoring a few goals. He has more pace over the turf and more pace in ball carrying than Miller.

Miller - great strength is heading, tackling and body on body strength. Plays a few decent crosses too.

My thoughts are we often have this ... everything they do and everything they say is wrong ...

IMO everyone from Lowy, Gallop thu to JJ, , have done some things right. It's the inability of some to recognise both the good and the bad.

To often we identify the bad and often what is considered good is more, a wish than achievable.

When Arnold was said to be the best coach at the WC it was disbelief by many.

pim, Arnold, Popa, all have had good times and bad times.. no issues with pointing out the bad but the good also needs to be said.

It's not all everything he does and everything he does is bad

The ranting about the Germany game wasn't warranted IMO. Germany were still a bit inconsistent which cost them the title but in the 2010 tournament they also managed to put 4 part England and Argentina which tells me they were very hard to contain on their day.

Spot on.
I think that the Germany game was just.. a very unlucky thing (given the Cahill send off, leading to much of the game a player down against a world powerhouse). A 1-0 loss in that game would have seen us continue on against USA.

And don't forget Garcia had a golden opportunity at about the 4th minute mark to have scored which would have changed the dynamics of the game entirely.

But Australia was first up against Germany. It was after Germany put 4 past both England and Argentina, that you realise how strong Germany were.
