That is their biggest of the season , outside of their obsession about SFC.13041 for wsw
Getting into the end of season bump
A lot of things have contributed to that fall.Interesting to see Aukland crowds in 10 years time.
Will they drop of once the shine wears of, or will they remain steady/increase?
Crazy to think victory was able to get 50k to a regular season game only 10/15 years ago.
Change in perceptions probably is a factor too. I remember when the a league started most people I knew who watched it claimed it was lower Premier league standard.A lot of things have contributed to that fall.
The cost of living crisis, the late Rebecca Wilson shame file articles, Bucket Man being the main ones.
christ alot of water under the bridge since Wilson......
Be it RBB of the past, Bucketman yaddayadda are moments that come and go.
People move on post headlines.
From my sidleine position perspective.
Trouble for this league imo most of its crowd that turned up through the days, casuals, that whilst there is a show to view (marquees) and outing.
Derbies the main obvious good crowd, where are they through the other other rounds. Good % Casuals again no ?
People expect to see a high level game such as what they know of (even the casuals) re afl/nrl, thats the kind of market that was targeted.
Invested football people/families NPL and down is where the market is NO ? (incl fellow eurosnobs many of you mock) but they struggle drawing them in, pretty bleeding obvious to me.
One trouble the Pro league has is that our top players do not play here, the casual relates to known players/sports people in the headlines not young unkowns - up and comers - this is the biggest factor when your targetting a open audience especially here with a code that is ostracised and lacks the respect as Middy would suggest.
MCG, tell us how many casuals will turn up if the ticket prices we're down ? whilst other main draw codes are playing.
and is that the type of casual you think will turn the turnstiles week in week out ?
Are crowds in melb gonna come back to watch MV and your club in droves because the ticket is cheaper ? when they can go to afl or nrl and happy to pay more I suspect.
Are the many past supporters that are led to believe being driven away due to the headline dramas really invested by football ?
Maybe it was just a shiney new toy that has pigeon holed our game in the hope of franchise model success.
Was the media hype/negatives against ethnic clubs the easy beat up in the hope that a new league would live long and prosper ?
As mentioned discussions sake though gone through this all before so what does it tell us for here we are again when seeing stats posted and ffs that Pig show I can't believe how well it rates.
For a invested football supporter/viewer and still playing, in my long time current club x 2 squads (30+ players) there is just 4 regular APL supporters - the rest follow EPL and other leagues plus some nrl.
You'd think many of these cashed up football devotee's (and kids playing mens/womens leagues, some are coachs) would jump on the APL wagon but no.....
biggiemic, though there can only be 1 winner in the end, trouble is even winning through rounds people are few and far between generally.
Its not pulling anywhere it needs to function viably in the grounds they persist with but they are boxed in.
ok too much doom and gloom, its surviving, doubt we'll ever know the real ROI or viability. It's interesting, despite all the doom and gloom, league wide average this season is 9k.
The level of football is on par with league one imo.
Compare our population density etc to other countries and 9k is very good.

Add in the teams who literally have nothing to play for come around about round 10-15 (teams like Perth, Brisbane) i find it crazy we still have an average attendance of close to 10k.
How much does the league need to be pulling to "function viably"?
Both SFC & WSWFC have free transport included in the ticket.lack of fan engagement
lack of main stream advertising
cost these days - ticket prices + transport and food and if going with family ouch
half season is in peak summer going to these games hot and humid easily turn people off
maybe lack of support for actives which inturn help make it a fun atmosphere for people to want to attend..
outside of the derbies they got to pump it up build up these matches, pay the big media for some coverage make some stories lol make it really spicy.
example being the mv and western game, game was fantastic atmosphere last 20 mins crazy but for the casual what entices someone to follow this fixture and want to watch, mv doesn't do enough to make it interesting enough that you cant miss it. I think this is what foxtel did really well in the early days
Also with kids of a local club the kids arnt talking bout it, no ones wearing the aleague kits non of the clubs do visits same with schools.
afl clubs do clinics and visits clubs and schools and my aleague club does nothing they send few emails regarding some classes which members only see.
but aleague youtube this season has been great, if I wasn't subscribed I don't think I would see these shows lol
I might have to see what is so good bout the piggy show

You reckon its level to League1 ?
I know money doesn't buy quality but the tyope of player/s I see in L1 vying for Championship levels on average better players imo.
Wrexham AFC has spent nearly £6.2 million on player transfers since the summer of 2021, with an average of £132,000 per player. This spending covers 47 player signings since the arrival of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Additionally, Wrexham's annual payroll was £5,576,400.
You can work out the exchange A$ exchange, don't think player to player/team to team we would match up that well imo though I'd luv to be proven wrong seeing clubs play against each other to really see what gives.
I'd be more inclined on avg towards L2 levels.
You really can't compare. If clubs went there then the extra money and available players would change everything.Looking at the Transfermrkt values (obviously not the best source but it's an easy metric to compare), the top valued A-League side is SFC @ €9.38m and the lowest is BR @ €4.65m.
From a value perspective that puts the top A-League sides in the bottom half of League One. However the bottom valued A-League sides would be right at home in League Two.
The reduction of the salary cap would have a big role to play though. There was a time when A-League sides would been valued on par with the top third of League One. Not anymore though.
So the reality is A-League probably sits somewhere on the fence in-between League One and Two. I reckon some of the A-League clubs would be able to avoid relegation in League One, but definitely wouldn't be challenging for promotion. Other A-League clubs would almost certainly be relegated to League Two.
