Look getting a win and the squad motivated is a big tick for Tyson and Leigh... Its not easy to bounce back from something like the past 8 weeks... They have earned a crack on Friday... if nothing else, to prove their case for being on the bench with a new manager...

Agreed... im quietly optimistic also to be honest! My main concern remained the system not the squad (with a striker though).

Some news on a coach soon would be an extra incentive on current players to perform, the coach to learn the team and prepare for the transfer period and second half of the season and for supporters (with the right fit coach ofcourse) to re engage!
 
Nearly 2 weeks since Esteban walked and STILL no coach announcement??? Either negotiations have stalled, money has dissipated or the 15 "applicants" were a figment of someones imagination????

Who is sitting on the bench (or Esky) tomorrow?

After digesting last nights result. We are still fucked, but it was an improved performance, enough to suggest that if we got rid of Esteban 5 weeks ago we probably would have scraped a few more points together.

The question remains how can a club the size of smfc, an nsd aspirant, have such little squad depth? how can our only current option up front be Rob fkn Harding?

How are we going into these games coachless? Even more so next week with the word that Minopoulos is suspended.

If we had any self respect as a club every single board member should shut the fuck up for the rest of the year and do the honourable thing and hand the clubs nsd spot to a more deserving club.

I Love how we shift the focus entirely to the womens team when our men suck, yeh we get it you went and signed 15 players for the girls and did fuck all for the men...it doesnt need to be further highlighted.

In a few weeks time we will find ourselves in the bottom 2 after defeats to Avondale /Oakleigh. After that we play 3 grand finals that will go a long way to determing our survival hopes (Port, knights, victory youth). Only one of those teams mentioned cant score...its us!

It's nice to have a forum where we can talk about npl and so. I sort of have ties to South Melbourne via family, so have always respected them, but as i played and grew up in oakleigh, they'll always have my heart, plus i love the banter/rivalry between south and Oakleigh, even though it's probably not a very big one, still enjoyable to see oakleigh play South.

I wish South well when they play in that new league soon.

Players not being paid, this is confirmed true to me yesterday

Club contacted Katsakis and JA. They both said no. Jonny A isn’t 100% content at Heidelberg but we are no chance.

Fausto reinterviewed again on Friday. Here’s where I heard some absolute crazy news. We have put 180K on the table for the senior coaching gig. Yep, after paying pesos for Esteban they are now slapping that money on the table to try and entice someone in. They must be reading my posts.

Second bit of news. Co coaches ala what Kingston or Northcote do or have done in the past. Yep, this isn’t a joke.

Dont think the club was ever keen on Katsakis, he borderline hinted he wanted the gig at the cup tie the other week.

Word is Minopoulos has accumulated a card suspension. Are we looking at a Holmes/Poutakidis combo for Saturdays hiding at Avondale?
 
Rumours, rumours and no official info coming out from the club, what a joke!

1. Regarding JA:
JA has the most complete team in NPLVIC at the moment, his side is running riot over the rest of the top sides and he is unhappy? I was at the game on friday, he was anything but unhappy if you could see the after game! His side is a clear chance for AU champ as vic rep, so no chance in him coming to us mid season (and why should he to be fair?) given the associated risks!

2. There is no payment issues, despite the rumours.

3. Not being able to get a coach if that is the budget is saying something though if true... i think club isnt sold on fausto, Loza is still apprehensive and the club is trying to hold out (right or wrong) for the biggest name they can get... Kitsakis was never in the running from a club perspective, more his own desire - i wouldnt be happy with his appointment but he does have more experiebce than the rest of the names we hear.
 
JA does have beef with some in the commitee. This isnt new, CT was barely on speaking terms with some on the South board whilst he was winning trophies! JA is 100% off the table until seasons end and even then its a 50/50 at best.

Fact is South need a coach now to help avoid relegation. We arent just in the business of trying to change the teams style of play, we need results!

No doubt he may have issues with some at SMFC but i think Takaki hinted to JA "not being content" at the bergers which just isnt true atm

Agreed, South needs a coach that will do all of the above simultaneously! For it to happen it had to be weeks ago (like we all knew and argued) so scouting etc of available players would be completed as the transfer window opens.. i remain unconvinced we are a relegation squad by any means but we do need 2 key players a striker and a playmaking midfeielder to take pressure on holders and defenders as the missing links! Other sqaud changes can come before AU championship with players dropping off aleague etc.
