I've also read some interesting articles in the New Daily and Guardian, with Alan Kohler producing a lot of data, about voting patterns, with different ages and gender.
Women are definitely moving leftwards as more women attain higher levels of tertiary education than men. I've read articles where conservative young males, influenced by Andrew Tate et al, who are called incels, plus other heterosexual males in general, can't meet enough conservative leaning women, to date.
Conversely, large numbers of highly educated younger women are finding a relative dearth of men to date with progressive views about feminism, environment, climate, First Nations, gender politics, being anti- Trump, etc.
Nearly all the most progressive MPs I know are women. The idealist MPs tend to be women, despite exceptions. Most progressive political activists are women, and of the men, many are either gay or trans. So I'm often a minority old, straight, white male, campaigning with younger women, LBGT and minorities.
In political activism, there are far more women involved in progressive pressure groups and the union movement than men. One of our state union leaders has said the average unionist tends to be a woman who is a health worker, educator or teacher.
When it comes to voting age groups Allan Kohler wrote articles about this issue 1- 2 years ago in the New Daily.
The under 40s, Millennials, only have 19 - 23% voting LNP in Aus! The other new phenomenon, is that as they approach 40, the voting patterns aren't changing. According to Kohler's data, they aren't becoming more conservative in voting patterns than previous generations as they age. Notwithstanding, the effect of the Andrew Tate adulators.
Gen X - 40 and over up to the Baby Boomers starting about 64. This Gen X have more combined Labor plus Green voters than LNP. However, there are still more Gen Xs who vote LNP than Labor.
Baby Boomers - overwhelmingly conservative voters - LNP. Many activists my age are embarrassed when told how conservative we are! With The Voice doorknocking it was difficult to change the mind of over 55s. Conferring as activists, we could not get over how open minded - under 50s generally were. Many thanked us for shedding light on the issue.
Silent Generation - the next gen older than Baby Boomers. They are even more conservative in voting patterns than the BBs!
It seems as though the LNP is dominated by old white, Anglo males. Thankfully, the younger Millennials don't tend to read Murdoch/News Limited for their news! As they outnumbered the older gens in voting patterns, they acquire news through social media and podcasts.
We are thrilled the Millennials have circumvented Murdoch/Sky/Fox and all the News Limited tabloids in Aus, who are inherently conservative. After the election I'm looking at Millennials with great fondness for sending Dutton/LNP packing!
A few pages ago MONO encapsulates it all quite succinctly in one of my favourite posts ever on football forums. He posts that Aussies have voted for a better, more inclusive society, trying to come together as one under Albo, compared to Dutton/LNP victimising minorities like Trump, and polarising Aus.
