Wrong. Way back in the 70s when the Troubles were starting to really heat up, there were a Irish immigrants coming in from both sides. And there were fights and all that shite. Even former and late AFL captain Jim Stynes wrote in his auto biography that one of the first thing he wanted to know who were the Catholics in his team and the opposition team - much to his horror and shock was that many of his colleagues did not even know what religion their families had followed; this discombobulated him for about two years when the penny dropped that no one fought over religion in Melbourne.I call shite. Members of the UDA or the UVF, would not be going to games in Melbourne, they would be at home in Belfast. BTW, they were the good guys as opposed to the IRanAway mob.
Indeed my overall experience is that when refugees arrive en masse (as I did) they will bring some of the animosity which after a couple of years settles into nothing.
