A league dissolved thread

Correct don’t know about squat haha

No mates is like a frigging double agent.
You don’t know what side he’s on most of the time but he is good keeping up with Peppa viewing figures.

Have to say anything is better in Brisbane than NZ franchises.
Look I want to see Bris Roar do well, i think everyone does. but how long can you keep flogging a dead horse? Something has to change - it happened to CCM and the Nix so why not Bris Roar?. And yes a team from Christchurch plz before a Canberra team.

How long ? Franchise system you go on and on no matter what whilst the owners keep putting in enough to keep afloat whereas with P/R they pay the price down down as it should be is my pov.
Agree re no canbra with this current system it will be a fail and No others from the long white cloud as well 😜😀

There could be a sponsorship from Brisbane Abbatoir in the pipeline.

Now I see purpose in my Club's direction.

Brisbane Roar, if its up for grabs, will be a tempting investment. One club for a largish city. History, pre Bakries, of success and reasonable support with potential to grow.

I reckon many who walked away would be back under new ownership.

And, please, bring back the black and orange.

Look Bris Roar bring nothing to the A-league except taking TV money that would/could go to a club/s that deserve it. They bring nothing to the league itself, They have a whole state behind them yet cant even sell out a 10k stadium come finals football.
They are now one of the worse clubs TV rating wise up there with WU and Adelaide.
The club has no ambition and there youth system is a joke compared to the rest of the league.
Id rather see Sth Melb in the ALM then having a club from a state that doesn't deserve to have a pro club in our national comp.
Does QLD need the A-League? Yes but does the A-League need QLD - No!. Best bet is to be put in the NPL or the 2nd division when it starts until QLD can get its act together.
The A-League is suffering because it has ignored the sport's second largest market in favour of embarrassing con jobs in empty paddocks. There are more players in QLD than any state bar NSW, and the only national pathway for all these players is a borderline unprofessional organisation.

The game will continue to suffer at the national level as long as the Bakries are involved and until there are more pathways in QLD.

Thats an amazing stat!

We have done a poor job at producing roos, maybe qld is a sleeping giant?

It'd be a huge piece of the puzzle if we could properly tap into it/release the valve.

NSW has always been way out in front and IIRC Gyfox used to keep stats at the old forum showing Qld and Vic have been relatively close for a long time. However when you look at the clubs in the national leagues Queensland has always been under-represented, players simply can't progress if there aren't enough pathways.

I feel like the 17K Perry Park redevelopment will have a huge flow-on effect if we can get it through.

2nd largest market? But totally agree with your point.

From the SMH link:

"Queensland has recently overtaken Victoria as the state with the second-biggest number of grassroots participants, behind only NSW - underlining the strategic importance for football that the region is positively represented at the professional level".

"INCLUDES SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY EVENTS & PROMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES"

I'm guessing it's participants under A-League clubs specifically?
That annoys me as it inflates participation numbers

Englands 14mil participants and italys 5mil are counting players only

Ahhh ok, I think I can see the numbers they're referring to. It looks like the "outdoor" numbers, not total. Yep, fair enough.

Blame the FA a lot for this. They knew years ago that the Roar was struggling. Were given options for Red Bull, and even a Celtic consortium, and a couple others, but denied them all because the Bakries said they were getting too little. Were actually getting more than they should have. Stopped anyone from wanting to invest or consider buying. The FA continued to expand and do other things all whilst neglecting the Roar.

Can you put a date on this as Football Australia have not been running the ALM since December 2020? You are possibly referring to Football Federation Australia.

Football Australia is the successor name to Football Federation Australia. Same organisation, just a name change.

The point I am trying to make is that the running of the A Leagues from December 2020 was done by the APL that is why I asked for a timeline on the offers from Red Bull and Celtic.
