I think it is in the APL's interest to invite 1-2 championship clubs to try and delay if not sink the championship becoming a home and away comp

doesn't mean they will mind you
The APL will want the "biggest and the best" if they were to "invite" an existing club to join them, with the hope of bringing a new bunch of consumers to the franchise table....

Thats only going to make the Championship a weaker comp in my eyes. It needs to start with a bang to have any hope of traction moving forward.

yeah I kind of wish wun could clunk along until the championship have had a couple of home and away seasons so its strong enough to survive something like that...

Cheeez Graz forget any local clubs going into APL.
It’s just not good business full stop long term.
It’s not the way we hope for football in the future have a pyramid get your head around this.
Any local club involvement with them ahead just adds more complexity and it’s bad enough as it is.
I suspect some f8 clubs would accept an invitation mind you

Its just a sad indictment on the strength of the franchise model... Players and staff begging for wages, dodgy owners not fit to trade in Australia let alone own a football club and "journalists" clutching at that one final straw before it forever floats away in the wind....

I think all 8 would, but therein lies the dilemma... There is no more Aleague distribution golden egg, the fanbase would need to jump tenfold overnight to make it worthwhile (and while it might it is still an unknown) and the clubs themselves would have to completely transition from volunteer run entities to a full organization in the next 4-5 months..... not impossible but most will ruin themselves (South included) just to be in the Aleague ... not worth it in my oppinion... time will tell.

double whammy would be to make a club unsustainable an then the nst becomes more difficult to launch

exactly. Dumber things have been done chasing glory though....
both the nst and the apl need to drop standards (apparently from ethically standards in the case of new owners for the apl) and just let everyone in. If 40 clubs can pay to play in a national comp you have 3 divisions, why not let them and let competition cause some clubs to lift their wages

Sure, write to the APL and ask them kindly to present their foreign owners with the possibility of being relegated and see how you go :)

well you can get around it by saying "no we aren't doing promotion and relegation, just promotion" then when there are 3 divisions say "well you have to do p and r now, there are 3 divisions!"

Why I pulled Graz up earlier.
He’s dreaming
why dreaming. I don't want them to invited the f8 clubs but expect they will and worry they will succeed and sink or delay the championship being h&a

although I suppose nightmares are a form of dreams :D

Just that you quoted it’s the APL interest in inviting some of the clubs.
Just don’t give them any ideas I’m sure they read the mighty GG haha

haha true. Though its so obviously in their interest they surely don't need to outsource their thinking

mind you with some of the decisions they've made....
