Just that you quoted it’s the APL interest in inviting some of the clubs.
Just don’t give them any ideas I’m sure they read the mighty GG haha
I doubt any of the f8 will want to fork out $20 million to play in a moribund league.

the thing is if you invite south melbourne and preston it would be a genius move because you could frame it as trying to help traditional clubs and work with the nst by promoting the best clubs rather than trying to sink the project. However you sink any chance of p&r for a decade

well if they made a special liscence for free or cheap they look charitiblefor making special allowance for a traditional club and "reuniting football"

See my previous post. 😲🤨
could the logic be reversed

Could the nst absorb a league clubs to "show they arent competition" and "help make things more sustainable" which would actually put pressure on the apl to have p and r

Kind of like howards genious but underhanded move to frame subsidies for private insurance as "taking the pressure off the public sector"

Correct and agree - why would any grass roots club waste that much $$’s when they already play in a affordable comp let alone not make any money dipping in 20M to be a league that can’t sustain itself in the first place.
Yes Graz thinks way too much haha and the wrong way trying to bridge the gap between fail and semi fail.
It makes no sense whatsoever.

No, I dont think so. The Championship, this year, will be an 16 club competition (and still only a crappy knockout cup style thing) yet the professional Aleague will only have 10 Australian clubs next year (for a full season?)

Hopefully from 2026 the Championship is full H and A for 16 Aussie clubs to compete in ... not much room for failing franchises.

I think it is in the APL's interest to invite 1-2 championship clubs to try and delay if not sink the championship becoming a home and away comp

doesn't mean they will mind you
I think it's in the best interest of any NPL club to keep the fuck away from the APL no matter what shiny trinkets they dangle at them.

APL have shown & continue to show themselves to be fiscally and administratively incompetent.

While I don't disagree with your last sentence, but if you think that NPL clubs, mainly old NSL that failed even worse than APL, well I wish you all the best, you will need it.

that just doesn't make sense robbos.
I also don't get the "worse" mention, talking $ backup wise I think a comp that has had so so many millions more and modern outlook and intel to work with looks "worse" than the peanuts compared to way back then that you do acknowledge run badly.
You really hang onto past failures to express a point, it really is moot in 2025, just for arguments sake mate.

I think even if we get p and r and npl teams are in and everyone is happy we'll still struggle to be where we were before gallop

A point which seems glaringly lost on Robbos in the other thread.
You cant re educate the brainwashed, which is why anything less than a total collapse and the real threat of dissolution, will always see them remain in their convenient bubble!

Most like robbo will continue to still blame the nsl for everything they themselves have done for 20yrs and till the end of time, even a collapse will somehow be the old NSL clubs fault.... All in the name of an (dis)illusional mainstream they reference as gospel - thats the supposed truth they continue to be fed and live by!

Prior to the aleague, for them the enemy was never the afl, nor the nrl in reality (to some it still isnt), but the NSL, after the aleague it was ALSO the previously mentioned bc they endured partially what we did before and didnt like it..

I really genuinely hope that P & R happens, the football pyramid becomes connected, and that football in Australia grows at all levels. I followed the NSL, really enjoyed going to games back in the day. I respect SMH for their history, past successes and glory, Ange, previous playing legends, and passionate supporters. But let’s say SMH get promoted from the NST (after it hopefully becomes a full home and away league) into the plastic league, (puts on helmet and bites down on mouthguard), we all ridicule WU and MacArthur for their 3-5K crowds, SMH maybe got a 6000 crowd recently, but they also only got about 500 people at their next game. How can that be sustainable?

You don’t think that just by being in the country’s top-flight in this day&age will ensure they don’t get crowds below 2K at the VERY least❓

Apples to oranges, and im sure i dont need to point the differences out to you?

Perhaps that convo is better had when we measure an aleague club out of top flight for 20 years?
Compare a summer to a winter league?
Compare funding?
Can you for sure say that crowds wouldnt come back from aleague clubs?

Fact is you cant compare, but you can bank on one thing we have been pushed out for 20 years and it diidnt kill us... thats the real fear factor for some!
