Soccer Ashes thread

Yes knew that - many Gov companies and the Embassies.
Shame nice place to visit - clean etc some nice restaurant belts.
Too many cops scared driving over the limit.
Such great green grass some grounds to play football on that impress’s me but Fark it’s too damn cold !
Unfortunately, football is only for the locals here now

You would think this is all part of Popa's plan now that we have qualified. Face a team that will provide a decent test, but still allow him to look at fringe socceroos whilst bedding down the ultimate game plan he is after.

What plan?

Pick gumbies that can't string more than 3 passes together in the final third of our opponent's half? Park 9 behind the ball, concede possession 70 to 30 and jag an arsey goal with a bit of luck?

That plan?

@Mr Cleansheets wrote a great article on the roar the other day about Popa.

Popa must be our least inspiring coach we've had. And he's just taken over from Arnold.

Yes I know he qualified us but that dire football we've been playing is going to see us finish with zero points at the bottom of the group. And if we're finishing with zero points then get a coach in that will give it a red hot go Ange style.

And he cut my mate's grass at a pub the day after they qualified for the 2006 world cup but that's a story for another day. Fun times.

Yep. I reckon we're in for either regulars just churnung through the friendlies learning nothing or random underwhelming additions. Playing NZ teaches us little but perhaps the friendlies are about fine tuning.

If the Greek team were known as the All.... What would word you add? :D
Gods??? hahahahahhah Its actually affectionately known as "to Piratiko" (the Pirate ship) long story short In the opening ceremony of Euro 2004 the Portugues put on a display for the opening ceremony with middle ages ships portraying Vasco De Gamas voyages and such.. the Greek commentators got soo enthousiastic that we "stole" a win from the mighty Portugal at home that he proclaimed the boys the Pirates who stole gold from the Portuguese... hahahahaha lame as but funny too.

I feel like starting an ethnic indoor league or something.

Hellas Malakas
Sicilian Stronzos
That can be the foundation rivalry

There was a famous newspaper headline in one of the sporting papers in Greece

"Ancient Greece worshipped 12 gods, Modern Greece now worships 11" - always thought it was classy.

As an aside, a population of 10 million people has 4 daily and I think 20 or 30 weekly FOOTBALL newspapers - let alone every day news ones
