ALM/W TV deal

I think BA81 covered alot/near on everything that brought on the supporter infighting that is at the surface still today and Middy mentions many times over as well about infighting as one of our issues and I think most/all of us would agree on for a change.
BA81 here here mate with a aussie ethnic twang, nice to read some honesty.
This is one of the huge probs that is bubbling strong for believe it or not I've said it before, the Aussie ethnic clubs are strong to this day despite low puny crowds as pointed by the APL devotees to belittle the game below that is the life and soul of past and future Roos/Matildas for thats where they all begin to surface on top of servicing the many many amatuers/volunteers who just luv playing our sport let alone being involved !
Your salving grace is hinging on a new broadcast deal, thats only part of survival, your other incoming resource is turnstiles, well thats snakes and ladders and will always be because you need fellow football people, not event followers to keep wheels turning, you need below more than below needs you !
We wish for football to finally get somewhere after all the wrongs whereas you apl fellows still persist on a model that excludes all of football.
I shake my head when I think politically many would stand up about inclusion this inclusion that but are happy how your product actually divides and excludes the general football community.

Who cares about the other codes, get behind and look after our own.
Alot of this talk is a waste of time.

Sadly, the people who’ve run the game here for the past 2 decades - they care bc their whole thing has been about converting followers of the other codes to ours. Which in and of itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the sheer fact that virtually none of the FFA/APL’s major decisions in that time have been w/actual existing ⚽️ fans in mind(only the creations of the Australia Cup and now the Championship come to mind; IMHO I don’t consider the ‘22 WC bid having been one) is discouraging at best, I think we can all agree.

The other thing that comes to mind re. the differences of opinion on these matters, is the geographical aspect. I notice that the game’s assimilation-advocates here tend to hail from NSW. Which I suppose is logical given that state’s been the game’s stronghold in this country since day one, and having been to Syd myself over the years I’ve seen that dynamic firsthand - which is in stark contrast to down here in AFL-land, where ⚽️ still struggles to be accepted as an equal.

Well said.

If APL is in far better position now than they were 5 years ago Mid, why are they decreasing both the distributions to actual franchises AND the salary cap? its a fair question I think?
APL at the last media deal looked like having to accept a 20 to 15 million dollar deal.

Ratings, crowds, have all been heading north for the last four years.

What's different this time is Silver lake and paying them back.

Arguably up there with leaving Asia to play in Oceania.

I am very aware of heaps of issues but with all that accepted APL is in a much stronger position than five years ago

Sad thing is that I think the one thing everyone can agree on is that APL will deliver SFA with the next TV deal and it will disappoint in every possible way.

That is pretty much a mission statement for the APL - "We seek to disappoint in every possible way."

My deepest but wildly unrealistic hope is that Nine lose out on the NRL and make the APL an offer that APL can live with in their ineptitude.

OK, if you think the landscape has changed so drastically I guess the new media deal is going to be astronomical.... I guess we will all wait with baited breathe...

Actually both sides have financial pressures. First the APL is reining in the clubs expenditure, hence the hard cap salary, paying back Silverlake and expanding the competition (if not rescuing WU). The dinosaur media has dwindling viewers, expensive cost base and lower advertising revenues. The only real growth segment has been sport - which is where the two interests intersect. So when something is eventually signed, no one will be happy because everyone is going to be wondering whether they had a stronger hand or not. This is the nature of contracts and why I much prefer time and material in my real job.

Never said or implied astronomical more we are not at deaths door as some seem to think.

The unsaid is you would assume Optus offered their sports channel around and P+ / 10 is not where it landed.t

The never discussed or broadcast is the extent of Silver Lake on APL from a financial position

Reading the proverbial room. Fucken oath it does💡

You see, I ceased to be one the assimilationist ‘get rid of the wogs and the skips will come’ naive d1ckf0rs that you and too many other numpties on this forum(& its prior incarnations) still are, once the EVIDENCE, the burden of PROOF could no longer be ignored by me. I’ve made my peace w/what the game is meant to be in this country, as opposed to clinging to the quixotic BS vision that the likes of you and the tossers running the show still have for it💡

So in the words of Sean Penn to the creators of South Park, “All the best, and a sincere FUCK YOU”🖕🏼
Time will tell, twat.

BTW , I have NEVER said “ get rid of the wogs “ , so don’t assume you know what I think.

God forbid you say it directly, so you constantly just allude to it...but hey, atleast you ve been worked out.

It does amuse me that this just keeps coming up, everytime you seem to hit the keyboard & with multiple ppl, and always leads to the same conclusion bc you cant hide who you are!

I'd say take a loooong hard look at it, but lets face it, you cant/wont change, after all, the hate is a culturally inbred trait for those Anglos like yourself!
