FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Flamego Bayern good contest.
Pretty even, big diff take your chances and that Bayern x 4 though 1 OG.
4 more R16 games to come tomorrow and following.

Qrtrs to date are
Palmeiras vs Chelsea
PSG v Bayern
Other quarterfinals will be Inter/Fluminense v Man City/Al-Hilal and Real Madrid/Juventus v Borussia Dortmund/Monterrey, which could pave the way for a Chelsea v Man City semi or a Der Klassiker semi, or both.

I’ve got a feeling we might see a PSG vs Man City final, but with plenty of quality sides left it could be anyone’s guess who is going to win it.

City players glad to have their holiday now. Way too much football.
yer I read somewhere they make the final its just 33days pre league koff.
Reading Pep atm didn't really mind, lets see how he comes across after 5/6 games.

Then who stays in the tournament deep probably has to then prepare for the World Cup proper after their normal season starts after those 33 days

Great stuff by Al Hilal, this after Fluminese beat Inter Milan earlier.

I think Jurgen Klopp should realise this tournament is a big deal for outside of Europe, instead complain when it can be played during the football calendar rather than calling it a waste of time.

reminds me of how the brits originally saw themselves as above the world cup and saw it as a waste of time

they have been well and truly humbled
How? Because a team of mercenaries list a giant another team of mecenaries?

That Saudi team were all Latinos.

For me it’s a tournament with no history or credibility. Just $$$

Players in Europe don’t care 🤷‍♂️

the first world cup had no history

who cares

and the uefa champions league is just a team of mercenaries vs another team of mercenaries just for $$$

I think Kloppy is like a lot of us originally and some still see this as the Infantino money grab and deflector re the big clubs.
In some case's I agree more so its early days but also we have a pretty stacked calender as it is and too much is too much.
It's like after all the years I enjoyed cricket but once the ISL commenced and all these other tournaments that actually again are overdone I tuned out.
I hardly watch cricket anymore but keep minor interest due to my early passions of the game whereas Football is far more important I'd never let it go/switch off completely but in time the way its going I won't bother watching as much as poss as I have to date and this incl this CWC.
Some games have been brilliant - especially seeing Clubs you don't normally see - I've always admired Brazillian/Latino football and look how they performed so I'm glad I watched alot to date.
Now looking ahead IF I start seeing players burn out fatigue, injuriies due to over doing it as it currently is this is going to spiral in the wrong, in some ways this might just bite Infantinos arse this occurs and his personal war against UEFA to compete against CL the Super Legue Clubs will spring back and tell FIFA bye bye.
Sorry I'm going all over the shop for watching competitive football into July is mad.

Anyway that was a epic mercenary ME win lol tsf - Pep and fellas can now have extra recovery time.
Inter is burntout ever since the CL shell lacking - new gaffa they are in lalaland and effected possibly what I'm talking about.
Good stuff Fluminese there not bothered win win.
Their game against the mercenaries gonna be great I reckon in the 1st QF.
Their foes and comp leaders Palmeiras (I have one of their shirts for training for some 20yrs) vs Chelsea, this is great for Brazil.

Man city are far more mercenary than Al Hilal

Man city have 0 (!) English players in their xi and Al Hilal have 3 Saudi players

Subs were 1 English sub for man city and 5 foreign compared to 5 saudi subs for Al Hilal

I hope you realise calling them mercenaries is for kicks and in the big picture they both share the big sand pit haha

I agree with you. I was a little sceptical about the creation of this version of the World Club Cup tournament at first. But watching it I have quite enjoyed the football, particularly seeing the European clubs playing the South American ones. Seeing Boca Juniors turn The Miami Stadium into La Bombonara kind of made the tournament for me.

It's by no means perfect in terms of it's logistics but hopefully they'll learn from the mistakes that have been made.

As for it having no history? Well I think to not bother with it because ''it has no history''? Well that's a complete nonsense. Its an evolved tournament from Inter-Continental Cup which was first played in 1960. Then after 40 years of that came 2000 FIFA Club World Championship which involved one of Australia's greatest football clubs South Melbourne.....
There have been many editions of that.

And everything in football evolved from something else. Look at the Australian A-League or Australian Cup?

The oldest football tournament in history, the FA Cup had very few clubs in it's first incarnation. And in 1872 it had 'no history'....

FIFA for all their criticism have recognised that there is more to club football than Europe and South America.

Good on them for that.

In conclusion - the FIFA World Club Cup is not perfect but hey what is on football?

Well done to FIFA!

AND I admit I've never said that too often.....😝
