Ryan Reynolds-owned Wrexham set to face Melbourne Victory

The football data analytics company Opta has got this Opta Power Rankings list going....

It's probably the nearest thing to rank clubs from every level and league in the world on a global scale against each other.

Opta’s Power Rankings is a global team ranking system that assigns an ability score to nearly 13,500 domestic football teams on a scale between zero and 100, where zero is the worst-ranked team in the world and 100 is the best team in the world. The Power Rankings are updated daily and currently rank teams from 183 different countries and 413 unique domestic leagues, providing a truly global rating system in men’s football.

This is the 1 - 100

Well they got no 1 wrong, so what does that say about the rest of the ranking?

So there’s no confusion going forward, fvck@r$3$ such as yourself aren’t welcome here. Now that’s been cleared up, the choice is yours..
who made you advocate for the whole forum bucket boy?

That handle has always given me a belly laugh. First thought it was a piss take and perhaps paying homage to "manyoo4lyfe" back in TWG days. However it seems he's a genuine temu plastic.
And you live in my head rent free, congrats 👍🏻

Yeah....I understand where you're coming from.

I'm not particularly big on all this comparing league against league, club against club or even country against country stuff...

I tend to watch football indiscriminately. Its 11 versus 11 for me. The quality of players is largely immaterial as to my enjoyment of football.

I'm just as happy watching a couple of lower league teams in the early rounds of the Scottish League Cup as I am watching PSG v Chelsea in the Club World Cup final...

it was a friendly and punters paid to see the players they saw in a Netflix TV series. It was star watching.
After they won 3-0 against Melbourne and you needed an oxy-viva from fainting with joy did you feel the same way?

Your trolling is piss weak, do better Dom.

Now I've had a good look a the SFC and Nix games, as well as MV.

Off forum I've been told that the Champ and League 1 have improved and they are playing football on the deck, but I didn't believe it after watching them quite a lot a few years ago when Fox showed them.

If Wrex finished 3rd in League 1, and most teams also play a similar style of football to them, then English football has improved out of sight in terms of style. Most teams just used to hoof it and turn the ball over really quickly.

I don't know how many new players Wrex bought for the Champ, who played in the games in Aus and NZ, but I take my hat off to them.

The off the ball movement to support the ball carriers in opening passing lanes, the distancing and compact shape of Wrex in Ball Possession Opposition, the ability to maintain possession playing at a much slower tempo, the technique with the ball on the deck, co-ordinated Squeezing in the attacking third, the ability to pass and move in tight spaces, looks like a decided improvement. Wrex are playing technical football.

If most teams in the Champ and League 1 are playing similarly, then these leagues are good destinations for Aussies. In the past there was far too much time in the transitions and too much fighting for the ball.

There might be a risk of burn out and injury though if they play 45 -50 games per season. The Dutch play 34 games per season.

England may well be set for international success if they have their third and second tier pro leagues playing a vastly superior style of football on decent pitches. England are creating depth in their second and third tiers that is hard to replicate.

AFL had a wrexham player on a podcast talking about their game.

Now I know people are going to complain but why couldn't the FA get them to promote the Australia cup. Sleeping again

I don't care about Wrexham supporters, 30 thousand of them turned up for 3 weeks to support a team because they were drip fed affiliation by a streaming service. Then were forced into the revelation their team wasn't as good as they thought ( no offence to SFC or WP). Let's see how many of them are still supporting Wrexham after four years in the hardest league in the world.

If those exhibitions didnt sell the Aleague to them, then nothing will.

It still won't. As I always say. I'm not interested in converting eggball fans or theatre goers to the A League but the thousands who play the local game every weekend.
Those thousands ALREADY have a local club to follow, what appeal does the Aleague have for them?
