Jackson Irvine Responds to Antisemitism Claims

Nonsense.

The Minsk agreements rest on two irreconcilable interpretations of Ukraine’s sovereignty. Firstly, is Ukraine sovereign? as Ukrainians insist, or secondly should its sovereignty be limited, as Russia demands?

Back in the 2000s Ukraine’s President Yushchenko was trying to implement a trade deal and an association agreement with the EU, something any sovereign country should be able to do.

Russia got annoyed to the point whereby it was becoming concerned about the EU’s expanding profile in the non-Baltic post-Soviet space, it started to actively white-ant Ukraine’s governance.....And while it did not take the prospect of an association agreement seriously at first. But by the early 2010's, with the negotiations at an advanced stage, the Kremlin had come around to the view that it was a realistic threat.

It's the Ukrainian relationship with the EU which could and probably would have been replicated with an association agreement with NATO that has been cause of the entire dispute.

Sovereignty mean sovereignty and Ukraine’s relationships with Western bodies like the EU and NATO should be up to their own discretion and not that of the Kremlin.
Be careful mate, you will confuse Lupi with a detailed and reasoned argument. This will be a trigger for him to come back and say he is too busy to respond, or some other throwaway line, to duck out of the discussion.

We often complain about our sportsmen being a little bit beige when it comes to having an opinion. Fence sitters is one terminology I've heard. Then when along comes one with a subjective political view we pick him to pieces.

Jackson Irvine seems to be a reasonably considered type of guy, I don't think he'd be captain of St. Pauli if he wasn't. Personally I don't fully agree with him on this current subject but at least he's out there 'talkin loud, sayin' something'....to slightly steal a line from the wonderful wordsmith and soulman James Brown....

And I do think I'd be interested to hear Jackson Irvine's opinion on other geo-political matters such as the Russia-Ukraine war or the situation in South Sudan, or Uyghurs genocide in China perhaps?

Might not be hipster friendly subjects like the Israel v Hamas in Gaza situation but I'd be interested all the same.

I'd probably like him more if he didn't have nail varnish, and a pink rinse in his hair.

I'd probably like him more if he didn't have nail varnish, and a pink rinse in his hair been a big advocate for LGBTQi rights and spoke with true conviction about this tricky subject for a footballer just before the 2022 WC...
It might have something to do with his strong advocacy of LGBTQi rights and he did speak passionately about that tricky subject for a footballer, just before the Qatar WC in 2022.

He hasn't been able to speak about LGBTQi rights in Hamas governed Gaza yet mind but there's more to worry about there, than a few homosexuals getting stoned in public squares or thrown off roofs.

every case Ive seen where someone has been accused of antisemitism they said something anti semetic and then completely misrepresented what they said as something innocent like "you cant criticize israel without being labelled anti semitic"

It's difficult to criticise what is happening in gaza, which is abhorrent, without running that gauntlet.

My understanding of the contradictory stories around aid is Israels official policy is to deliver the aid and the government for the most part does that. However, some members of government high up are allegedly ordering soldiers to destroy aid motivated by hatred. My source says the basis of the war crimes indictment is they have soldiers willing to talk about a superior giving such order and their testimony is enough to establish motive. The source seems reliable and close enough to know but I cant gaurantee it, and there are a lot of dodgy stories been going around. However, it makes sense of what Ive seen

This is a statement from the UN and sums it up well:

Nothing can justify the horrific acts of terror committed by Hamas and other armed groups in Israel on 7 October 2023. And nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian people are being murdered, starved, dispossessed. It's inexcusable.

100% this

the US literally installed a puppet government and you speak of sovereignty

spare me your parroted propaganda

Details of this so-called 'puppet government' please?

If you have the time that is....🤭
There's a leaked phone call with the under secretary of state discussing the placements in the new administration.

Its been out there for 10 years.

If you're western Ukrainian, British, German or Croatian (or god forbid Polish), there's no point continuing because you'll always have biases you'll never see past.

It's not at all.

I'll have a crack.

Israel shouldn't be slaughtering 10's of thousands of civilians and starving the survivors half to death. The IDF and the government are being a bunch of cunts.

Fuck anyone who's offended by that.

why is the Labor Party silent then?
Labor Against War and Labor Friends Of Palestine are vociferous about this issue.

A few Labor MPs are quietly seething about Netanyahu’s actions.

Many in Labor’s rank and file are also highly critical. All of these groups/ indivs are lobbying MPs in Labor Caucus.

There is a polemic occurring on my home FB page about this ATM too!

Why are they on the fringes? Why are they quietly seething?
Are their ladder climbing careers more important? Why isn't the the Caucus on board?

The majority of Caucus don’t want to offend Trump’s stand supporting Netanyahu.

There is massive disquiet amongst the Labor rank and file.

Labor Against War are issuing heaps of press releases, many are about AUKUS.
