I actually wouldn't call that dire haha. As @biggiemic said, 4k should be sustainable. Macarthur and Western United have struggled to reach that, and Macarthur have the benefit of a bunch of derbies to draw on.

Fury were kinda rubbish on the pitch too, imagine if they were half decent.
The two you mentioned, should not be in the league.

I think after twenty years we should be aiming higher than 4k.

Sorry that didn't come across in my post, I agree those two shouldn't have been in the league haha.

But 4k is fine for the lowest end. They can't all be huge clubs. Like in business, you can have a few components making losses when they are needed for the greater good. But those two clubs are run like junk and don't offer anything to the greater good. Fury did, a very solid regional club, they just needed the backing of a Macarthur or WU.

The way roar and peth are going at the moment they could be the 2 extra states represented in the nst, then just launch tomorrow
The scary thing is a fantastic club like Perth could conceivable fold if the owner decides to bail...... If Im not mistaken APL owns the Perth Glory name, logo, image rights and everything so even if they DID want to compete in the NPL the would have to completely dissolve first.... this cannot be the ONLY way to do things in 2025....

The clubs I've associated with the past couple years have said it's solely a funding issue. These are Perth clubs though so would cost more to attract better players.

Players salaries is the main issue, imo.

Are they full time, part time?
I think you get it. Football in WA just doesn't have anywhere near the same money behind it as other states. I've been involved with a couple of clubs and seen the inner workings.

Why? Maybe because WA was kept out of the NSL for a long time so clubs here just competed in their own pond. And when Perth Glory came along I think a lot of sponsorship money shifted to the big league.

People are increasingly losing interest in local football, crowds are rubbish, media barely mentions it - even Perth Glory get nothing near the attention they used to - Perhaps Perth Glory being a basketcase for most of their A League existance doesn't help.

If Azzuri or Macedonia got into an NST no one would give a shit.

Thats really sad to hear mate... I have NO local knowledge so maybe asking a garbage question but would them leaning INTO their ethnicites change that somewhat if there were 1-2 teams in a national competition? I mean Stirling travelled to Melbourne and a couple of hundred Preston (or at least local North Macedonians) came out to cheer them on ... I remember back in the day when South or Knights would visit Perth alot of the "away" support came from local Greeks or Croatians or what have you?

4k is fine - if you have your own ground and social club. Hiring grounds and not getting the match day income for a 4000 crowd is problematic.

Excellent point. I guess different grounds have different costs, but really not ideal.
Our costs at Lakeside are relatively high in comparison to some others but Ive been told anything above 1,400 (thats only if we have to open both stands and hire secuirty for both sides of the ground otherwise half that) is profit.... PLUS whatever the social club makes on the day...

They axlctually have tried to remain balanced and not spread the panic, hit the points we all make along with hinting that perhaps the FA does has some sort of merrit regarding sustainability... nothing we havnt discussed or touched on here though! Credit to them though!
They are definitely more moderate than a league reddit and they brought up the transparency issue

This is all well and good that they have addressed certain things but perhaps its time for more journos etc to put pressure on getting answers bc even they saw the FA as being vague in their starement! I do agree with what they said though!
That's why I shared it because it's the only media I can find. We're so small now we're like a little community these days

Does anyone have that pod from a few months ago with the head of adelaide city?

This one?

Adelaide City president Angelo Carrozza on their NST movement (skip the first minute):

In summary, they were in from the start, but then had some hierarchy changes that halted things and they weren't ready for 2025. But they want to be in for 2026.

I found an old post of mine when looking for that. I think it was a sports report:

Adelaide City announced a while back that they're a definite in for 26.
