North-West Spirit I believe? And I think there is some kind of Northern Spirit connection like they bought the license or took it over? LFC would know

How so? They are listed as northern spirit

I guess you see rangers as no longer existing
The club “ folded “ in 2003/04 ,Only their youth teams were swallowed up by the Gladesville- Hornsby football association. They then were given the nickname “ the spirit “.

You know fine Rangers still exist, you cannot liquidate a football club, only the business that’s runs it. Many clubs have went under and are still alive, like Leeds and Middlesbrough.

Were SMFC not in the same predicament at the end of the NSL ?

Australian Sokkah, ahhhhhhhh, makes it so hard to follow this sport in this country.
For 50 years we keep scoring own goals!!!!!!

I’m calling BS on this one HBW. Every SMH fan would jump at the chance to play in the A-League. But I guess if that happened what would you then have to complain about? 🤣
You're extremely sure of yourself, yet again, about a club you have no knowledge or affiliation for.... WTF is wrong with you?

Sad day, some seem in glee at there demise... for me it highlights the very poor decision making when they were given the place....

Will be interesting to see if the proposed new owners wish to buy in at a bargain basement price or whether their interest in buying was over stated...

What I find interesting is FA pulled the plug not APL....

I caution those who think the failure of an A-L teams helps create P & R for the tier two competition are a long way off the mark.... to get P & R off the ground we need a very successful A-L... a crap and failing A-L will not be good for professional Football in Australia....

I do wonder aloud if the elephant in the room will come outside and play or be invited to play.... i.e. will South Melbourne be looked at and maybe become part of the A-L.... for one I would love SM back ...
Depends on how good the offer they make us is.... fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Very unlikely re South Melbourne. APL will be glad to be rid of the bye.

Mid, pro rel is never going to happen. There isn't enough money in the system. None of the NPL teams except South Melbourne can afford to be promoted.

Only BS i see is the fact you can claim your league is the premier comp in this country.. you arent even proud enough to display a logo there champ whats that tell ya?!

Tonset the record straight, you are again categorically wrong! That was an initial want yes, a long long time ago, naturally that may even be a want some still have, not me! All i want is the dissolution of your league! Even just to live the hypocricy that will follow from many of you if the roles became reversed! No question about the inability to survive something like that!

You can never sell me the idea that playing a souless sydney, or city, or even MV, in any way can trump what i have lived against, the Croatias, against Marconi, Adelqide City so on and so forth... its that simple!

yep Sutho covered it and Graz no not Northern Spirit no matter what anything is found on the net.
Below covers it in better detail.

With the advent of the National Soccer League we were able to resurrect our representative football by becoming the Premier Youth teams for Northern Spirit FC. Unfortunately, the National Soccer League wound up in the 2003/2004 season, although it was thought we could continue the youth competition in 2004 within the Soccer NSW set up.

This was however not to be, although we were given a lifeline by Soccer NSW as the competition was due to start and it was deemed too late to withdraw our teams so in a matter of weeks we applied for a new name – Spirit FC, changed our white strip to green/red/white so there was never a strip clash, de-registered all our players from Northern Spirit FC and re-registered them as Spirit FC and only postponed our first round match and Spirit FC was born.

Yet your biggest crowd in over 20 years was against “ soulless Sydney “ mmmm

Waz on the Roar floated the theory that the resale of the licence may be underway even now. Some are suggesting it may be a way for the Americans to get a cheaper price.
Its conspiracy theory time!!!!!! Oh joy

Seriously mate..... you are a better and more loyal fan than someone who follows a A-L team....

Re your comment about if the league falls over Football will survive ... 100% true it way to big 2 million odd players.... but be a national competition with large media deals and huge crowds .... not going to happen if the A-L falls over...

I don't want anyone or any competition to fall over from a park team up.... I find it sad another team has folded...

I'm confused, this sounds like they do still exist?
