Aussies abroad šŸŒšŸ¦˜

It’s crazy that just last year, Yengi and Iredale were looking like the Socceroos 1st & 2nd choice strikers (remember the Lebanon game).

The fact that only 12 months later they’re so low down the pecking order is a crazy drop off.

Another interesting observation I don’t think I’ve seen many talk about is how good the Hibs moves turned out for Miller and Triantis.

People have often said that when our Aussies go to Scotland, they stay at that level and aren’t able to use it as a stepping stone to a better league.

That may have been true previously, but it’s nice to see an exception with the Hibs boys. Hopefully this is the start of an upward trend for our Scotland-based Aussies.

Definitely! Also speaks to the depth that now exists up top for the NT, many taking another step in that time.

Surely the likes of Borrello and Taggart will have to be banging in the goals to seriously continue making the cut.

All roads lead to Ro, I mean Duke. Look what happened, we had a good chance to finally give the other strikers an extended run but went back to Duke even when they were fit. Iredale and Yengi had their own injury period and their club moves aren't helping their case now. Toure also had injuries. Taggart's return and Borrello's bring favoured hasn't helped in introducing a more sustainable set of strikers.

Yengi's Bahrain away double shouldn't be overlooked. Over the years the chance for new strikers has been hindered with silly deployment of Boyle and Leckie in the middle. It shouldn't be happening. For me know, it's about regenerating which will be more sustainable. The current suitors are hungrier than every and they're just going to be left waiting while the favourites don't deliver.

no one talking about deni jurić for the socceroos... has 4 in 3 in the league to start the season plus scored a double v viking in the conference league. per opta's ranking system koper (his side) are ranked higher than aberdeen, where yengi is struggling.

Duke did a job for us but at his age I would be surprised to see him appear again. Disappointed as well if he does appear again because that means there is no one stepping up to take his place.

Duke and Behich were akin to putting your last buck on a roulette number. I'm glad they did well in the final window but they had not performed at their experienced level earlier and were only fortunate others were injured.

Though it would be nice for him to get a home send off this window against NZ. He has put his hand up when called and has done an adequate job.
I think Duke has been a stalwart for the Socceroos and while not a prolific scorer has led the line well. However with WC finals less than 12 months away other young strikers need to be played in the friendlies.

A home send-off for someone who has played less than 50 times for his country? This whole send-off thing is ridiculous. If he doesn't deserve to get a place in the squad anymore based on form and ability compared to others, then don't select him. If for some bizarre reason FA thinks a send-off is deserved, then allow him to walk around the ground in civvies prior to the game without selecting him in the playing squad.

Joe Gauci loaned by Aston Villa to Port Vale. Disappointing the loan wasn’t to a championship club . At least he’ll play I suppose
