2025 Australia Cup final rounds thread

I agree with you bro, I’ve been on here defending your club all morning

its directed at Mono. Not you.

The club decided to move to astro around 2013 era. Main reason was money

it was getting to hard to maintain a grass pitch and costing the club $80k a year if not more to maintain. Issue with grass at our ground is, near the dugout, it wasnt getting much sun because of the BOKA Stand, so by mid season it became a mud-bath.

We spent up to $1mill on FIFA approved Astro turf, and got it re-done a few years ago. We dont have the luxury of pitches behind the stadium like marconi do, so we get a lot of traffic on the main ground. The Astro Turf has been a good investment as we have Bulls who hire it, and Mounties once upon a time.

Oh yeah and APIA looked tired last night and faded as the game went on besides the goal. They only played on Sunday as well so the turnaround and a flight to Melbourne took their toll. Avondale were rested and spritely.

Man, I wasn't having a go, I already said I get why you did it and it makes sense..... just a conversation.

Yeah I get why they did it... You just have to see the costs Melbourne Knights must incur trying to keep the natural grass alive and presentable themselves (and not doing particularly good job these past few years Im sorry to say) to explain why United just ripped it out and put astroturf.... Not having a go at their ground, I cant wait to visit again personally.

so did we against blacktown last night, but managed a narrow 1-0 win.

now to back it up on saturday FFS

Celtic have a hybrid pitch i believe
Pretty much all EPL clubs have hybrid pitches, I understand. Hybrid pitches are quite common in Europe.

Hybrid pitches are predominantly natural grass with maybe 5-15% synthetic fibres woven in.

Senior football should only be played on grass.
agreed I'm sure all of us feel the same - but we oztralia eh unique typically.
Berreta/Glenardo posts cover many points but I'd like to highlight this is the ever going on issues that has developed due to many factors.
Lack of Governance $'s, being semi pro to this day etc.....
I get why certain Clubs went down the syn path, lacking grounds to cover the amount of Jnr's/the W rego influx.
Grounds are fully booked and packed out for trainings rain hail shine.
Quite a few local grounds are syn now due to the traffic and rugby but more so cricket having the grass pitch's booked to start their pre season causes much angst/anguish when local football has to juggle/defer the many wash out weekends.
Happens every season.

I agree they are no good contributing to injuries - the faster roll of the ball and different bounce.
Just another political bun fight the game contends with here.

hit the nail when it comes to our club.
only difference is everyone else got synthetic pitches through Government grants (sutherland, blacktown, rockdale) to name a few, but because we are privately owned we forked it out ourselves.

Dont get me wrong i prefer grass too, but you need to make changes for your club to survive

yes Beretta I recall re Edensor when it was to make the call.
Got to do what you got to - I thought good on SU just had to happen, same applied for Lambert, lack of funds hard to maintain grass and you can't afford just having it used for main weekends only.
From my observations and what has happenned comes down who is in local council at the time of approaching them as well.
In my local areas its varied which Club does gain traction on some funding and who or type of person is in council at the time.
I have a ex playing mate in 1 association I played in had the gumption going down the political and being a popular good bloke actually got voted in for some years.
Get a football caring fella in something happens, he presented the case's and got approved 2/3 syn pitch's in that association as well as the clubs contributing through fund raising etc, without them football season would have been a ongoing mess.
In the next local one I played in one Club had been rallying/requesting for approval for one for 5/6yrs as well as fund raising for it, finally got approved and got to 50% completion just a season back, then suddenly stopped.
X amount of greenie locals who had been making their case from the get go have finally won the war FFS it seems.
Unbelievable, the place is massive with regos, this field when there is the slightest rain the bloody council close it !
Such a joke.
