No Geria, Caceres or Hrustic? I'm definitely picking those 3. Popa will definitely pick Behich as well. Maybe Leckie now that he's back playing again.

Mathews is out injured. Luongo isn't getting any game time for Ipswich. Not really a fan of Iredale, but our options are limited. Same with Miller.

welcome to the forum!
Sadly bos isn't available unless you mean kasey?

Kasey Bos isn't anywhere near ready.

Give one of the u20 CBs a go? Kikianis and Esposito have been decent, I’ve also read that Leonard should also be given a go but he’s quite young compared to them.

Esposito is talented. But he need to promote himself at the first team of Lecce.

If there is a necessity to promote a CB from the AL it has to be Kai Trewin, he's too versatile not to include, if Dan Hall didnt get injured he probably would've been within a decent chance of getting a call-up.

Agree about Dan Hall. What a shame he’s injured.

Think with all ours cbs injured we should revert to a 433

Does Boyle force himself into the starting team off the back of all his goals & assists for Hibs over the last few months?

I know that's a more likely line up under Popovic if he chooses a 4-3-3 but if he goes that way I really hope it's Strain and Iredale as our full backs over Miller and Behich. I like that midfield and forward line.

If we go two up top I hope it's Boyle and Toure. Some form, pace, power, trickery across those two.
Using pace against defensive teams is tough

You can do it if you invite the half press back to the half way line by passing back to the cbs then try a diagonal long ball while the defense is slightly stretched

How would you approach it?

it is hard because our best players against a deep block aren't our best players (that should hopefully change in a few years). To be honest I'm glad I'm not the socceroos coach for that reason :D

To give an idea of the problem, this is what I think are the best players vs a deep block, yet I'd only consider segecic, triantis and tilio from this list
- tilio
- arzani
-jovanovic
-nisbet
-silvera
- triantis (allows you to play a lone 6 and have an extra CAM)
- okon (as above)
- segecic

the other way to counter a deep block is to have wingers good at drawing fouls and whipping in crosses (kruse and cahill combo was amazing at that, maybe goodwin can do that too. Irankunda good at drawing fouls but need someone else to cross) and have good set piece threats. Triantis, irvine, yengi are all good set piece threats. You then commit more to the rest defense and just try and win ugly

Think the best way around this is playing Riley more like an inverted winger then has Bos bombing down the left.

I think you could play Nestory out wide and just have him run at defenders and make cut backs and play a more defensive fullback behind him to cover.

We need more dribbly bois to unlock the defenses. Tilio/Arzani both don't seem professional enough to ever get to the level we need from a dribbling winger.

I think Popa will go

---------------Ryan
Miller----Triantis----Burgess
Strain--Irvine--O'Neill--Behich
---Goodwin-----------?
--------------Duke

Yep.... If it gets a win I'm happy but few here are our best players.
