Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

The board are tight and don’t want to spend the money of an Avondale, Oakleigh etc. Maikousis even said it himself at a members forum a few years ago. They got Esteban there who is close to Mesouroini snr and he pulls all the strings and he only stepped away from football director so his son could get a spot in the senior squad.

South probably have the 4-5th biggest budget in the league. Esteban did well over the past few years with the squad that he had but now the squad is shit and can’t adapt his tactics whilst a lot of clubs recruited well.

They have no options apart from Marinos to get now as JA or Tolios won’t leave their clubs mid-season. We are a big mess!

JA won’t be ditching Heidelberg nor has his brother got the time to come in given his business commitments. His the boards ideal choice but they won’t pay him near what he wanted or frankly what his entitled to. South unlike Oakleigh who stump up 200k for their entire senior coaching panel, expect to be able to pay pesos for another coach like they’ve gotten away with Esteban.

The manager NK were referring to was Tolios but unlikely he leaves mid season especially since his tight with the playing group at Dandy.

Bayside in SL1 will go for Marinos, his in the picture along with another young manager. Other lower league level clubs in SL1 and VPL2 want Marinos too. Would South go for him, they should but there’s two board members who think his behaviour (i.e smoking and going out with players to Crown for example) is a distraction. And I so I doubt they are looking at him tho they really should be.

CT ain’t coming back unless South stump up more then the 200k a season Oakleigh give him and his back room team which the current board won’t do.

Good luck finding us someone to get us through this mess. At this rate they’ll be on the phone to Westall UFO for Con Tanga to be interim.

Last night I caught the tail end of a discussion on Radio Ellas, which I thought they were mentioning rumours about 'Ellas not having paid their players'.

Yet this morning I have seen no mention of it on socials.

So, did I mishear 'Ellas'? Was it in fact 'Nea Ellas'?

Again Im not convinced that the squad IS shit ... but agree wholeheartedly with "can’t adapt his tactics whilst a lot of clubs recruited well."

Its not even about tactics or lack of them anymore ... Ive really got no idea why, playing against 10 men, he waited so long to bring Bonada and Andy on? And when they did come on they spent 10 mins trying to razzle dazzle their way down the left hand side of an incredible right full back for Altona magic (sorry the lads name escapes me but he deserves a huge bonus from Magic, he was a machine) with pretty little wall pases and look the other way Argentinian flair... just putrid, showboaty shit ... score a farckin goal and THEN put on the "display" for your youtube channel ffs..... We should, if we had any sense of self respect left, forfeited that game and let Magic take all 3 points... 10 men and they put on a counterattacking show, two goals saved one through a stupid referee and one because Javi Lopez is quite simply the best keeper in Australia....

I have absolutely no idea what can fix this incredible run of shitness but dead silence from the club and trotting out Minops like a rabbit in the headlights to speak about yet another Archibald medical disaster is a poor reflection on the club .... We can sit here and dream about the next coaching wizard but its clear the board doesn't give a shit about the NPL and expects us the paying members to just eat shit and die..... They think, clearly, that this Championship is going to bring back the thousands upon thousands of "real fans" this club needs, us idiots are just that, expendable idiots.....

Maybe 3xy should focus on paying their own staff before slinging mud around?
 
NK cant have been reffering to Tolios because it said the coach in question is at a Greek backed club. Dandy City are croatian. Im pretty sure they've been talking to JA but thats unlikely to go anywhere.

Really only 2 options now. Marinos obviously, and possibly Katsakis. We cant afford to be greedy here, just give it to Nick who can come in and start working with the squad immediately, we can reasses at seasons end hopefully. He can smoke on the bench for all i care lol.

If we end up with Minopoulos interim its curtains. He said we played well 2nd half lmao.
 
If the NK article is true whoever the coach is I’m starting to think they will be our NSD coach I unfortunately don’t think Estaban getting sacked hopefully I’m wrong

There is only so long they can put this off really.....only problem is longer it takes, more of a chance it WILL be Minop with the excuse its too late in season to find any viable replacement.. that remains my (like others here) main fear rightly so and by some miracle if season isnt blown by then, it sure will be with him in charge!!!

Yeah I get it if I was running things Estaban would of been gone after the Avondale grand final and JA or Tolios would be coaching us

Yeah i get what you mean and we had said as much initially, but from what i saw of him, i dont think he was suited for a fast pressing ball playing side either...the impression he left me was of a player too slow on the ball, of limited reaction and strength and no high game which was supposed to be half the role he was to fill.
