Think systematically by mapping out the two alternatives:
1) U.S. imposes tariffs to resuscitate U.S. manufacturing, even with robots. Takes about 15 years to train up experienced people and re-create modern supply chain needed to sustain that returned manfacturing
OR
2) U.S. keeps going with "same old, same old" - then, perhaps by the end of your lifetimes, the U.S. has dropped down the order to become a second-rate world power like the United Kingdom and France ... with a totalitarian regime, together with the axis of evil countries, becoming the dominant controlling forces in the world.
Criticize all you want, but I do not want a world controlled by totalitarian regimes in 2050, for the sake of having cheaper K-mart toys in 2025.
Trump is taking the tough decisions to save us from that totalitarian fate ... whereas 99% of people whine like babies, entirely thinking short-term. Very few people are visionaries. For instance, if you take the population of blokes on this forum, it's not a criticism to say that hardly any of them are visionaries. That's just facts of life. Most people are short term thinkers, they do a job, earn a living, look after their family, and don't see things beyond keeping themselves and family safe, fed and perhaps educated. THAT is how people vote in Federal elections, which is why pork-barrel promises by politicians works so great - because the vast majority of people are short-term thinkers.
