Yeah I think it will only get bigger and we should host it soon before it's too big to award to us.I think im the only one thrilled anout this and hoping it becomes as big as the usual world cup
Hope we dont have to wait 32 years for an aussie team to qualify tho
Have a feeling it’s going to be only used like the old Confederations Cup, and hosted as a warm-up / test run for the following year’s World CupYeah I think it will only get bigger and we should host it soon before it's too big to award to us.
It's just not interesting to me anyways. The European clubs are to strong everyone wants to be at those teamsHave a feeling it’s going to be only used like the old Confederations Cup, and hosted as a warm-up / test run for the following year’s World Cup
I really don't agree on alot Ifantino does, he or more so FIFA like most leading bodies today is only about the $$$ and thats business I get it......Have a feeling it’s going to be only used like the old Confederations Cup, and hosted as a warm-up / test run for the following year’s World Cup
I don't think I'm closed minded. I'm not interested in this but I'm open to other people watching and maybe checking results? Maybe that is closed minded ok you got me hahaI really don't agree on alot Ifantino does, he or more so FIFA like most leading bodies today is only about the $$$ and thats business I get it......
We already have a Club Cup the CL played during the season but I get why this is going ahead in this day and age of - we must have more to keep the mass's/natives engaged and we can.
The CL is euro based whereas this brings in the Champs for all over globe like a WC but Club.
I actually see it with a open mind purely because I luv watching football.
32 Clubs from 20 nations has alot of variety and some Clubs we hardly watch let alone never.
I'm keen to see the minnows who are Champs from their region against known Clubs large or small.
So many Clubs I've never watched.
$'s from reading is going back to all clubs and their associations being they are in it.
Sure Ifantino is the consumate pollie what he quotes couple pasted below - one thing I know more than ever is if you stay the same your left behind, football does need to keep reaching areas it neglected in the past, is this the right way going about it ? hey I'm no FIFA delegate but nothing ventured nothing gained.
MCG - sometimes I think your very close minded my young friend, we're a global game, there is no law because we are from here watching global is not interesting ? seriously there will be some good football played I'm sure, isn't that what ticks being a viewer being entertained.
“We have more countries represented in the (FIFA) Club World Cup, the first edition of the (FIFA) Club World Cup, than in 100 years of (the FIFA) World Cup. Because these clubs today – the top clubs in the world – they are multinationals. They have good players from every country in the world. So, we have 90 [or so] of you who will directly be involved. Paraguay is a great example: no club from Paraguay is there but players from Paraguay are there. And the whole of Paraguay will be proud to see their players competing and maybe winning a (FIFA Club) World Cup, because the (FIFA) Club World Cup is definitely a (FIFA) World Cup. It is history, it is the first. It will be a huge, huge success.”
The new FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on Saturday, 14 June in Miami and includes a prize pot of USD 1 billion for the 32 participating clubs. There is also a USD 250 million solidarity fund for non-participating clubs, which means the tournament’s legacy will be felt long after the final on Sunday, 13 July in New York New Jersey with FIFA keeping no revenue produced.“Everything will go back into football: prize money to the clubs, and solidarity funds for club football all over the world,” said President Infantino in his speech to the Congress. “My thanks goes to everyone who has participated in this success: the confederations, associations, the leagues, the clubs, the players, the European Club Association, its chairman – everyone who shared our vision of the need for the world to have a global club competition because we have to make sure that clubs, not just national teams, but also clubs, can shine on a global stage, can invest, and can become better and bigger all over the world.”https://inside.fifa.com/organisatio...-of-groundbreaking-club-world-cup-at-congress
Im only interested in the Club Wolrd Cup if/when South Melbourne is playing in it .... beat you in the "close mindedness" stakes... surelyI don't think I'm closed minded. I'm not interested in this but I'm open to other people watching and maybe checking results? Maybe that is closed minded ok you got me haha
Tough game; could have been a few goals.First game showed players actually cared heavily, good turnout by Al Ahly’s Ultras groups. Would of costed years worth of travel from them.
Yeah seemed like a lot of Egyptians at the game in general but the top tier did have a section of their own local Ultras group which wouldn't be based in US.Tough game; could have been a few goals.
Would most of the Al Ahli supporters already live in the US?
Suarez doesn't add much to the Inter team, waste of space really.
