FIFA Club World Cup 2025

you are not alone that is for sure.
BA81 covers my feelings and outlook greatly even though I know you southerners had to conform to feel part of the melb fabric (the olders fellas MCG) but I have kept saying, the more you guys keep providing them ticket sales, attend your adding harm/contributing to their cause.
Obviously it offends but as they say, the truth hurts.
Sure before others say about NRL, same would apply up here by dual code followers but I'd say its minor compared to down south.
Maybe you should be the first in your fam to start the change for the future and your kids ahead :)

Yer spouse good on the Auckland fellas, couldn't expect anything from them, least as HG mentions they a good paycheck.
Bet the players won't get much of a bonus but hopefully down to grass roots more of the money goes to.
At least they will get something, the MLS apparently is sharing all of their revenue amongts the club owners.....

I believe there was $3.6 million from what I read
just did a quick, IF Auckland can gain a draw you also get a kick back.

"There will then be prize money for wins and draws in the group stage of the tournament. Every team gets £1.5m for a win and £800,000 for a draw in the group stage in what could be a game-changing amount for some of the smaller clubs in the tournament."

Also no wonder Ifantino keeps rubbing shoulders with the ME.......and so many other games/tournaments keep being played there putting the CWC aside.
"The prize is being offered thanks to sponsorship by Saudi Arabian state oil company Aramco and state investment firm PIF, as well as a mega £800m payment from streaming service DAZN for the rights to show all 63 games."

Don't listen to the ahters mate, Petrodollars have done more to harm our wonderful sport than the AFL ever has or will... It is a bit of a chance for competing confeds to highlight their wares, Im not hugely interested but its football afterall... pleased for the Egyptian side that popped Inter Miamis balloon for example. I wont be waking up to watch but will certainly keep abreast of the highlights.

Still, a bit weird for a CFG supporter to be boycotting a tournament like this :P
Bah humbug the petro $'s haven't done much harm down here yet though compared to aerial ping pong.

Haha you countered your good support to MCG then slammed supporting his petro club lol......

By the way, there are games at 5am/8am/11am - no need to set the early am alarms Tevye , we know you need your rest after all that dancing on the roof and ouzo haha.

Heads a little sore... went home last night and had another couple of scotchies and watched the replay again :P

Reactions: LFC
Literally how❓
All you’d have to do is stop supporting the sport that for 145 years&counting has made next to no secret of its desire to see ⚽️‘s extinction in this country(preferably by its hand)..
Everyone in Melbourne HAS to support an AFL club- even socckah people- it's compulsory!

Which in and of itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing..but ofc it’s their myopic protectionist born-to-rule mindset in the face of all other sports in Melb/VIC(let alone 🇦🇺 as a whole) that’s always been the 🚩/dealbreaker at hand😔
Is it the AFLs fault though or Melbourne society in general?

As an organization they will do everything in their power to appeal to as many customers as they can... as does the NRL up north... I dopn't blame them.... Its on US to be better not on THEM to be worse....

Im baffled at the opposition to the club world cup

If the club world cup takes off and becomes the highest level of football available then every country in the world gets access to elite football

Here is one possible consequence: if Brazil can start keeping there best players domestically, europe stops shaping the way elite brazillians play and coaching the flair out of them to male them conform to european systems football. We could see the return of jogo bonito rather than everyone playing the european way

My opposition is the format (size) and the timing (how often, and it's place in the calendar at the moment)

Perfect format for me was the original version (2 groups of 4, featuring the reigning Confederation champions, plus the host nation's league winner, and possibly the UEFA Champions League runners up?)

But how can you squeeze Messi into that config?
