The Circular Quay press conference had bad audio but you could hear a bit of snarky questioning and it put Popovic offside. Maybe we're now owed an explanation and you've got to time your narrative but I beg to differ in that we need structures to ensure we cap these players.

I know younger members of this forum use different media, but I'm sick to death of Aussie rules on ABC TV. There is virtually no football coverage on ABC TV.

On FB I'm getting some AL site articles which is good. I'm getting a few Socceroo and Matildas ones too.

Miranda, Vic captain, who I think is Portuguese, has labelled Daniel Arzani as the most skilful and natural Aussie footballer he has seen. This includes all players who've played for the Socceroos.

In an article on AL site on FB, Miranda said Arzani is a new player since coming back from the World Cup squad. That he needs to be consistent all the time, week in and week out, according to his national and club coaches.

Arzani's goal output is atrocious though for a winger. He has been doing some really flashy outside of the foot and shoelace short passing and moving in recent games, that has been effective. Miranda said they give him the ball deliberately just to intimidate the other team. Having said this, Auckland contained him quite well in the semi.

For mine he has to be in the next Socceroo squad. Apart from scoring goals and free kick taking I think Arzani tops Hrustic in every other department.

I think it is also fair to say a number of those guys would not have made it as far in today's game. The talent pool and scouting networks have just increased world wide. Would Craig Moore got a look in in the epl today? Seems less likely.

Croatia come in in 91 and the fuckers nab Simunic, Seric and Didiluca. Glad it didn't continue at that rate.

I think you are pretty new to G and G /IS?442, CS.

When I go back and look at old Socceroo games right back to 1993 that Grazor had on a thread on IS/442, I'd only give Kewell, Cahill ( as a central striker)and Bresciano a berth in the current Socceroo team.

Apologies to all those who've read this too many time before.

The game has constantly evolved. More and more is expected from players now.

Popa would have had a good look comparing Teague and Triantis on the training ground in like for like.

I think Mr Cleansheets put up a post of Trantis highlights. Didn't see all of it, but highlights can make anyone look good if all their best moments are assembled.

One has to appraise how they move off the ball. When they made a mistake by making the wrong covering run, or was it too late?

Did Triantis fail to track a marker on a number of occasions?

In one instance where T beat a player ( impressively) and shot, the camera didn't show how he ran in the Defensive Transition to recover the ball when the opponents regained it.

It also didn't show the many occasions when T's running to support the ball carrier could be appraised, if the ball wasn't passed to him.

Look Celtic is a brilliant possession team, but a lot of the Scottish league I've seen in Cup games has poor running off the ball to support ball carriers. At best quite a few Scottish teams would play like Auckland in the AL - effective, physically strong, good aerially, very disciplined as a team unit off the ball, but possessing little flair.

The Scots turn the ball over a lot.

Triantis is even more impressive when watching full games in my experience. Teague has a very different profile and also has played with poppa before which probably benefits him
 
It is difficult to get an overview!

So many players.

The Scots have a player, Ferguson, playing for Bologna in Serie A. Paramount has shown Italian Cup games. Scots usually don't go beyond England - do they?

I'm still beastly careless about Robertson and Volpato. There is so much talent coming through with players who are committed to the Socceroos.

Two midfielders doing well in the AL are Western's Bozinovski ( only aged 19, 20 or 21) and Thurgate aged 24.

Western are playing a 4-4-2 flat midfield in possession - meaning Boz and Thurgate have to cover a lot of ground as a two person midfield. Sometimes one of the two Western strikers drops into midfield.

Surprisingly, I noticed Teague's quality technique more playing for the Socceroos, than Vic. Next to him at Vic, Teague has the even more technical Valadon, plus technicians Machach, Arzani and Villupillay further forwards.
 
How much has Drew improved playing Aus Bundesliga?

Is he out of the frame for the Japan/Saudi games?

Technicians who play modestly in the a league can stand out in the asian champions league as well. My theory is that the difference is refereeing makes a difference. A league refs allow a lot of fouls which can neutralize a technical player

So far i have only noticed improvement in how quickly he gets into shape out of posession. There might be other improvements i havent noticed

The last match is on the 26th which might be near enough to catch the end of the camp?
