The Unofficial Australian Football Club Database/Pyramid

Eh this one was just a copy/paste from the old forum - didn't want to lose the data.
Although tempted to do the same now for State Wide (including non-connected/grassroots leagues - as a hypothetical for like Australia Cup stuff), and also each league/association as per what I've got down outside of those connected leagues above, which would be:

Decided to start, and have done Tasmania (Southern Zone only - see below), Capital Football, and WA Metro. Again, I stress that this using 2024 listed home grounds and league structure.

Just confirming with these, these only include each club once, and only their highest grade - therefore NPL and connected leagues clubs will not be part of this, and does include some combined leagues in my figures. Community Leagues I'm not bothering for travel purposes etc, other than in regional/metro associations - but they will be included for Ground Sharing purposes.
For Tasmania, it appears (According to my database) that there is only one club in the 'Northern Zone' that doesn't compete in either the NPL or Northern Championship, so I have not included the Northern Zone:

UPDATE 05/08/2025

Due to reasons, I've had to completely re-install my PC, which means I have now lost access to Photoshop (which I was using to optimise the logos for this database). So, until I can re-arrange that, the list below is what is currently outstanding to complete:

NEW SOUTH WALES
  • Macarthur
  • Manly-Warringah
  • Nepean
  • North West Sydney
  • Northern Suburbs
  • South Coast
  • Southern Districts
  • St George
  • Sutherland Shire
In the meantime, I've decided to try and start on the Wikia/Fandom page that I was hoping to maybe use for this. The aim is for every club in the country to have a very basic page, stating the Member Federation they are a part of, the competition they compete in, and their home ground and logo history. I'll need to optimise the template for that before I get started. Tried to copy the AFL page there, but didn't seem to work properly.

I'd be hoping to use a combination of the following webpages to create as much of a full history where possible. If it's just me, it will take time - but that's the aim of having the Wiki - essentially anyone can jump in once all the templates/structure is made.

EDIT: Ok, I arranged Photoshop pretty quickly after I sent this post - it has taken me the better part of two weeks to do that, so have gotten cracking on Macarthur Association tonight.

Decided to spend this morning on the Wiki to create a template as a visual guide to what I'd like to include on this database: So have created a basic page for Hanwood FC in Griffith, NSW (currently competing in the Wagga Wagga Pascoe Cup) a test. Some info is not there, but has the space for what is needed.

Aim is to only have competitions, clubs, home grounds, and logos. Maybe a small blurb for 'history' for each club to be added later.

Are you avoiding Wikipedia because anyone can edit it?

No, I think anyone can edit this one too - the difference is Wikipedia tends to make you do things their way, and are very antsy in the past I've noticed - they won't want football clubs up without some sort of current squad - which I'm trying to avoid with this database, as it's all about the clubs and the league structure, rather than the players.

For ideas on anything to add, I've created Template pages for the following. To do what I also want it to do, I think I'll have to also create a yearly page for each member federation (to track each State's pyramid as history progressed)

I'm very open to suggestions of things to include - at the moment the only thing on a club page that I don't have, that I think I'd like to have, is a section for a history blurb on each club. Whilst most clubs would be blank, I'd either use what's on Wikipedia for clubs that do have a Wikipedia page - and the benefit of this is that they can be publically edited.

As I know the history of it a lot better, I'm planning to make the Griffith Association (and affiliated clubs) my test case, and as such I have begun with Hanwood FC and it's home ground Hanwood Oval:

Oh, bummer. Yeah keeping all the squads up to date would be a nightmare. What you're doing is perfect.

Grazie for the feedback.

Doing this Griffith league I realised is gonna be a nightmare hahaha. Hanwood FC has their honour board on their website including their satellite club that continued to play in Griffith (essentially as a third grade team) while they went off to Wagga and Shepparton - which the club then continued in the first grade Griffith competition when Hanwood FC were removed from Shepparton after 2007.

I daresay when I take a look at Yoogali SC's they'll have something of the same (although they never set up a satellite club, they just entered in both competitions)

So the time has finally come - All logos are complete. I've updated the main original post with all details and links to:

  • Club database spreadsheet
  • Google Drive logos folder
  • Draft Fandom/Wikia homepage
  • Test page of Griffith and District Football Association on Fandom/Wikia
