Finally a proper def midfielder who can hopefully make that position his own! Has been an obvious sore point since the Peios departure!

Also not replacing Barcia was a massive error. Peios was never played in his actual position under Esteban, he was always moved out onto the wing.

Menelaou has been a target for the club for over a year now so it’s good to finally have him at the club.

Next up the defender from Queensland, hopefully an attacking mid and another forward option after that. 2 more after the queenslander would be ideal. This will also strengthen our bench.
Striker and defensive midfielder announced. Hopefully that Queensland defender is announced tomorrow as well. If we can get an attacking midfielder as well, that sets us up very nicely for the Australian Championship.

..... BUT, Eastern Lions hasnt played in the Australia Cup yet, JUST the Dockerty Cup

If we were to use the APL logic that is :P
I have no dog in this fight, but the only way I can see it making actual sense is because it was a one off game to see who is allowed to take part as opposed to playing in a game that is part of a qualifying competition.

Roar did not get into any competition stage of the Australia Cup or qualifying.

Very vague distinction.

With melb victory currently beating knights, think south is safe from relagation. Should aim for a push to finish 6th

If we win away this Friday, do we start to think that would be enough to stay up? We could be up to 10 points ahead of 3rd last with a maximum 15 points still remaining to be played for.
I think 1 more win will do it overall.

Hard to see Knights, Port or Victory getting to 25 points.

The only thing we need to watch out for is the unlikely event of knights beating st albans and then having Oakleigh throw them the catchup game the following week.

Thats a sketchy distinction at best mate... I dont remeber the name of the player but the comment I read was a Roar player (I think) now signed for Perth??? Last competitive match was AGAINST Wellington and the next competitive match that same player can play in is again AGAINST Wellington in the same cup competition...

Knights won, which suits us, we are 7 points above the bottom 3.

Knights will struggle to win another game, should have been 4 goals down in the first 20.
They finished the match of with aplomb though.. Semi looks like he has been put out to pasture but still kept banging away at goals until they created the last minute gasper penalty to win.. well played Knights...

Just trying to find even a hint of fairness or rationality to it. Can't say that I have gone close in my own head.

Nikola Mileusnic fits the Roar to Glory premise.

According to Wikipedia, Mileusnic holds a Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering so clearly that was a factor in the decision if it is him.

next 2 weeks will make or break us.
Agree. The next 2 NPL matches are Dandenong City away and Altona Magic at home. Four points here is not impossible, and depending on how the new signings perform, it may even be 6 points. Essentially, win the next 2 league matches and we are all but safe.

If only we had fired Esteban 2 weeks earlier - it may have helped us reach 6th spot. Those home losses to Port and St Albans really hurt us now.

At the moment, I'd even expect something from the Gully and Oakleigh game and Avondale will be a much better showing than last time.... Maybe not on results or on outcomes but Id only say Bergers were a step above our current lineup and form.
