Expansion Thread

Sod it! Let’s just join the MLS ( next pro?), they have their own stadiums!!
We can all just watch it on tv 🤣🤣🤣
Don't give the APL muppets any more ideas, if they had their way it would be this - No player payments or super contribution to worry about... AND NO EFFNIKZ

Although it DOES look remarkably like a KNVB training drill ... HAHAHAHAAH

Have no fears nomates Mata might save the APL haha

FFA made bad decisions after bad decisions more than a decade ago.

Western United and Macarthur were mistakes.
Let's not forget Sydney Rovers were awarded a licence for a few months.
Extending licences for another 20 years.
Heart or Team 11 should've been in SE Melbourne.
Keep Gold Coast.
Canberra, Tasmania brought in.
Regionals of Geelong, Wollongong, Christchurch, North Queensland only if healthy.
NST introduced much earlier.
Pro/rel by now.

It's almost like Gallop was deliberately aiming to kill the sport.

If gallop was working for another code im not sure how he would act different

South getting the license is just about the only thing that would ever potentially lure Ange to coach in Australia again. That would be bonkers.

Gallop has worked at CA, NRL, AL and now netball. And at CA and NRL the message could be succintly described as don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

I don’t think Gallop wasn’t a good administrator, I think he got a good wicket from the NRL/Newscorp days when the game split but otherwise he hasn’t set the world on fire when it comes to administering other sports.

This is what happens when the administrators don’t have much success outside of this country, I always felt football should be targeting overseas for administrators just like when we do for players and coaches.

At least JJ worked with FIFA but most local ones haven’t much success outside of the country especially in the world of football, I honestly don’t think we have the expertise and knowledge of administrators that could grow the game that the locals one have already tried.

In terms of expansion, the wave the league had around 2015 was when the league needed to expand but the ‘fish where the fish are’ line which felt like a smokescreen to not do it had the chance to expand, but instead the game decided to put a hand brake because of the Congress wars which put a stop to that and by the time the league decided to expand it was almost too little too late and overall it felted rushed without much thought into it.

Once again the league and game has never had a long term vision and without working together for the benefit of the sport then how I can’t expect the game to improve and grow?

How many teams, whether it has pro-rel, when it can be played etc it’s part of overall direction and at the moment given the silence from the FA and APL it’s all crickets and nothing has changed for awhile…

What do you mean by system? You mean the structure of the game or the league?
Yeah governance structure.

Board makeup should comply with the crawford report, all votes by the board should be public and there should be means for clubs to directly vote to overrule a board members vote

Basically better representation accountability and transparency
