2025 Australia Cup final rounds thread

Kraev went down injured early and was subbed. Big loss up front for them.

First goal was a light backpass in rain - bloody kids stuff - Berger just ran onto it and round the keeper - but he then missed with a poster and it bounced into the Wanderers defender coming back and in. Wanderers will complain that the game wasn't stopped with the injury but they played on and the ref allowed that. Stupid mistake all the way up the other end and a lucky bounce.

Second goal a handball penalty.

Nothing against Bergers and their victory - but far from a normal match.
Thats football tho right?

the seniors play 10kms away from their junior club, in a small pitch next to an Italian hall of some sort which is in the middle of a housing development next to the freeway, no lights (or they cant use them at night because of the neighbours) and a Bunnings tent as a grandstand.... NOT even close to passing NPL licensing but somehow they are allowed to play every $$$$$season.

Not to mention for years they werent allowed to use that "stand" after it being built for failing regs

Went to the match last night. It was crappy weather but had a great night. Heidelberg has a great little stadium and we sat in the grandstand which was about 80% full.

Their active wasn't anything to write about but a lot of passion and friendly atmosphere. Their system to order food was confusing you had to line up for a ticket then wait in another line for food so didn't really bother.

Club ship was impressive loved seeing all the trophies and history. On the pitch they suffocated the midfield so wsw had to play the wings and couldn't really create anything.

Bergers definitely deserved that win and they could beat Wellington.

Wanderers had no cutting edge, best 2 chances they had were from set pieces. Often got the ball in decent wide areas but were far too undersized every time they put a high ball in. Possesion they had was largely meaningless, Heidelberg at least tried playing through the lines and looked far more threatening. Bit unlucky with the Kraev injury in that it seemed like the ref didnt deem it to be a free kick (no advantage paid) and the handball penalty was a super hard shot where Gersbach turned his body and wasnt even looking, line ball that one.

Eh, like other said you can only play whats in front of you.... Bergers needed somethign after getting slammed around these past two weeks. If theyc ant beat NPL opposition at least they can beat up on the Aleaguers....

Agreed mate, pretty meh match but a win is a win and fair play to the Bergers getting their cupset.... WSW was abysmal.

Should have waited for the souva mate... interesting hearing you say it was confusing getting food, I guess when you live it week in week out you take it as normal for some clubs to do this.... If you hadnt mentioned it I wouldn't have even remembered it as something out of the ordinary.... Aleague and NPL really ARE different worlds sometimes I suppose.

geez Heidelberg looks terrible on film 😂

So dark and dingy
To be fair it’s much better now than it used to be when it had the running track. It had a refresh a few years back and the running track removed. It was a horrible running track too, just basically red gravel being eaten up by overgrown grass. Pitch was moved closer to the main grandstand

it actually wasnt... there is a massive area between the grandstand low level seat and the fence around the pitch, means the first few rows have NO visibility... pretty poorly pl;anned in my oppinion... but yes no more red weedy gravel :)

I’ll have to defer to you on this one. I haven’t been there in person since the refurb and am just going off the photos

The smart move would have been to bring the pitch closer to grandstand (its miles away) but they couldn't because of how the first two rows of seats are basically pitch level...

I thought that’s what they were saying they were gonna do.

Anyway, I have been a couple of times before the refurb and this still looks like a sizeable improvement on that

For sure.... once they finish the social club and they get to the stands should be great... wasn't trying to be dismissive.

They removed the track left a thoroughfare for standing traffic which they block with workmans tape, but if anyone stands there it then blocks viewing from first few seating rows.... what remains amazing is that since its bloody inception they have not had any forsight to do something about those hideous view obstructing posts... they really have got the stuck in a timewarp thing down pat though! 🤣

A_a_ eggs_on_toast did deserve it though last night.. Lesiotis made WSW look average all game and the goal was a piece of magic and well deserved.

Unfortunately for them the liberals that promised them money, got less votes than bergers have supporters at the games currently, so the plans for the cash injection promised now probably went to some dog walking park to appease the lefties!
