ALM/W TV deal

Gotta say this again.

The bigger issue is crowds.

Say 150 games per year, every 1,000 increase in crowd size @ 30.00 per ticket is another 4.5 million.

The steady pick up across crowd n ratings metrics over the last four years is a good selling point .

I expect we will get a slightly better media deal next time
It's all part of it. Average Joe needs to see it first to want to join it. With a decent broadcast deal comes better media coverage and marketing. We're averaging 9,000, not bad, all the die-hards are still turning up. But the growth and newbies need to see it before they commit.

10/P+ is a bit meh. It's not awful, but there seems to be very little growth coming from their subscribers. The coverage is just passable, but only the die-hards know where to find it. A large number of people still don't know the A-League has been on free to air for years! That's the first hurdle. Many are oblivious to when the actual season commences.

Outside of the die-hards, most people just don't turn up out of thin air. You need decent coverage of the league.

Had the rights for two seconds and this how far the tentacles reach with their coverage:

Instantaneous. So much power. Would boost A-League numbers overnight. But also get ready to be treated like garbage as soon as they want to ditch it. Might be a volatile relationship.

Reminds me of the tradeoffs a teenage boy faces when considering whether to ask the popular girl to the school dance....

Paramount will advance talks over a new deal for the streaming and broadcast rights to the A-Leagues, after David Ellison’s Skydance officially took over the US media conglomerate as controlling shareholders last week.

The company, which is led by Beverley McGarvey in Australia, is set to ramp up its pursuit of the A-Leagues after opening talks in June, according to people briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss private information.

Paramount’s current deal with the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) is worth an estimated $200 million over five years, and was key to its 2021 launch in the Australian market. The streamer has since secured select international rights and bills itself as the home of Australian football.

The A-Leagues is a priority for Paramount in Australia, said one of the people, and the company remains locked in ongoing discussions with the APL — the governing body that operates the A-Leagues — over a fresh broadcast deal.

Cant find the link, But on the news site it said if WU are finished that every other club in the A-League will get extra funds this season due to no having to give WU $3m of revenue so there share will be split between the other 12 clubs. Don't know the math but just guessing it would be around a extra $200k on top of the $3mill. Should be enough to get a decent import at the clubs.
