World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

behich is getting smashed... in what world does poppa think the same doesn't happen to arzani and tilio? at least bennie and nestory would be half a chance of winning headers or second balls.

I will leave my judgement of Poppa until after these two games... he came in during a very tough time and had to get results which may be why he has picked who he has. But I expect after we qualify he starts looking at these younger guys who weren't picked as options at the WC.

Was hoping they would take Nestory to the CWC. Good little experience against top teams although not many taking it seriously. Good chance to see how he has developed. See the difference when you have a club who ACTUALLY wants to develop you? Bit of shop window for loans too. They already...

100% our best prospects should be breaking through 17/18 then 2-3 seasons(at least a season consistently starting) and go to Europe 20/21 so that they get there with some professional experience. This is beginning to happen in the last few years. Nestory has been a great example stay at Bayern...

We all watched the U20s with Okon-Egstler we know he got the talent and there's not many aussies who have had the skillset to be able to play as a sole 6. Even Mooy didn't quit have the pace that Paul has. Would really love to see him with Triantis both can dribble up field and get us on the...

I wasn't really across how he was doing in Portugal. The bloke played one game he got an hour in the middle of the season rest of the time he was brought on at 4 or 5 nil up for literally 5 minutes or used to waste time when they were 0-0 brought on for 1-2 minutes lol How the hell is he in the...

I think the Nestory thing might be a bit of Bayern or his management team telling him its not worth going to u20 world cup. People forget before he got to Europe he only played 15-20 games a season. He's played 39 games this season. Maybe good idea to give him a good rest the old "my hammy is a...

Really unfair to Botic imo, kid has done very well this year. Hasn't been super consistent but he has stepped up in some important games, has done well in the u20s before. Same with Segecic, you gotta at least have them in the squad.

Do you actually think we will dominate possession against Japan at home and Saudi away? I'd be inclined to say our transition phases will be the most productive for us. I'd also wager they get more touches cause the play is alot slower.

Geez is it really that hard to find a mezzala these days AC Milan going for Volpato to replace Reinders? If this is true might be time to pull out all stops for the kid, Triantis and Roberston too and we got a pretty technical midfield.

Yep would love to see him go to a more technical league. Belgium seems to be really good place for our players O'Neill, Maty, Bos have all done well there. Nearly half the country speaks english so it can make the transition easier. Great shop window into the bigger euro leagues.

Has to be Spain this time, his system would be great to watch in La Liga. Somewhere like Villarreal.
