Let's make a few heroic assumptions. 1) The ALM has 16 teams by 25-26. 2) The NST has 16 teams by 25-26 3) ALM clubs come into the Australia Cup at RD of 64 4) NST clubs came into the Australia Cup at RD of 128 Then the ALM clubs could have June off after a 31/5/2025 Grand Final July and the...

I'd still go for 16. and if you start at the right time you can still finish late May with only 1 midweek round. e.g. Australia Cup Semis 30/8/2025 NPLM GF 13/9/2025 Australia Cup Final 20/9/2025 ALM First round 27/9/2025 Observe FIFA dates but play 29 weekend rounds plus 1 midweek round...

ACL Elite East Rd 5 - Vissel Kobe vs Central Coast Mariners

Tough game - Vissel Kobe top of the J-League and the ACL Elite (East).

Thankfully the last year of the NSW deal. Let's not do this again.

What do you want to see in the next WCQ window?

Not really - he is an odd bird. He often 'forgot' instructions under Monty at the CCM Academy and then for CCM. Monty made sure he knew about it as well.

Marco Tulio actually talked him into going high, hard and left in a similar position (keepers tend to look at protecting the near post) - Garang crediting him for one of his early goals for CCM.

But still a save. If the ball had hit the post our commentators would save Garang had the keeper beaten - but that is meaningless if the shot isn't going in. I must admit I always had a bob each way. If someone missed a penalty against me I always thought of it as a save caused by my...

I've never been impressed with Bosnich's takes on being a keeper. Yes he was a great keeper. but some of his insights go against what he was coached and actually cause problems. e,g. He always said you need to stand on you line at a free-kick because it gave you the most time. I know one of his...

No, Martinez made himself big and saved Garang's shot. Garang did not miss the goal - his shot was saved.

That always gets me as well. When the ball hits the post or goes just wide the commentators say they had the keeper beaten when in fact the keeper had the goal covered. The only reason the keeper was beaten was that the shot missed the inside of the goal.

Maybe that is the case - and I see that and am frustrated by that as well. But playing Gauci with his footwork against any sort of press worries me

Point was more he hasn't learnt - even when he was dropped from the CCM Academy side. Can't see him making it consistently at the international level.

Plenty of experienced keepers were caught out when the back pass rule was implemented suggest it should be something you learn from the beginning. Gauci was dropped from the CCM Academy side for Aidan Munford because he couldn't play with his feet. Some keepers just can't adapt.

That's where the NST comes in. Many of the best NPL players would not be able to afford to give up there main career that they have spent years in. Young players gravitating to a NST playing against teams seeded from the 120 odd NPL seeded clubs into a higher level would not be giving up long...

I'm not sure on up to date figures but 6 or 7 years ago there was only one fully funded public stadium - Toyota Park. There were four paid for by the clubs or owners and the rest were a combination of public/private funding.

Adelaide have nearly folded a number of times. Aren't Victory caught up with the 777 bankruptcy and how long will the Russian Oligarch and his nephew keep funding Sydney. Forget regionals - no clubs in Australia make money so by definition the owners are not getting anything back. The clubs I quoted have the chance to transition away from the flawed model. The big 4 less so - if they ever want a return it will be part of a South East Asian Super League along with...
