I'm not 100% sure that's the case.Turns out Marin Jakoliš is not eligible for the Socceroos. Neither his parents nor grandparents were born in Australia, which means Jakoliš must live in the country for five continuous years to satisfy FIFA’s eligibility requirements.
As per FIFA's explainer on eligibility, if Marin's Australian citizenship/passport is tied to his birth (I.e, he is eligible to be a citizen due to a birth parent being a citizen at the time of Marin's birth), then he should be eligible.
There is a distinction between holding a nationality and being eligible to obtain a nationality. A player holds a nationality, if, through the operation of a national law, they have: automatically received a nationality (e.g. from birth) without being required to undertake any further administrative requirements (e.g. abandoning a separate nationality)
