Turns out Marin Jakoliš is not eligible for the Socceroos. Neither his parents nor grandparents were born in Australia, which means Jakoliš must live in the country for five continuous years to satisfy FIFA’s eligibility requirements.
I'm not 100% sure that's the case.

As per FIFA's explainer on eligibility, if Marin's Australian citizenship/passport is tied to his birth (I.e, he is eligible to be a citizen due to a birth parent being a citizen at the time of Marin's birth), then he should be eligible.

There is a distinction between holding a nationality and being eligible to obtain a nationality. A player holds a nationality, if, through the operation of a national law, they have: automatically received a nationality (e.g. from birth) without being required to undertake any further administrative requirements (e.g. abandoning a separate nationality)

I guess I see the reason why Miller is disliked, but there is a risk/reward balance that we need in the team. He provides far more energy than Behich on the other side. He also gets further up the pitch and has contributed with more crosses (and a goal). He has grown into the position as far as I'm concerned. The investment is starting to pay dividends.
He certainly gets further up the pitch, but he rarely beats or gets past his opponent and I don't think he does get many crosses in (I'd like to see stats on the crosses to confirm if my feeling is correct).

Miller is a work in progress. His first touch is not always as good as you would expect of a NT player but he is willing to take players on( of course risking a turnover) but he is strong and will put in a few good crosses.Popa seems to be keen to play him and relies on Geria to cover him when he is caught upfield. He certainly deserves to be the squad.

He's one of those players you love to hate in every NT squad. Not unlike Milligan back in the day.

He's one of the few prepared to get outside his man. I can't remember how many crosses he hit but he certainly combined with Goodwin a few times in the first half for plays that resulted in crosses.

Perhaps he had some cross assists?

I've rewatched the first half of the Bahrain game. Apart from corners (3, all straight down the keepers throat), Australia put in 6 crosses. 3 by Goodwin, 2 by Miller and 1 by Behich. Pretty poor really overall.

The other thing Miller does a lot of is fall over. Fell over 5 times in the first half, of which only 1 was a foul against him.

Miller did look good getting into forward positions without the ball, but when he got the ball didn't covert them into anything really meaningful.

yer good you brought his on the deck up - I thought a few times wtf can't you keep on your feet.
Look yer I do like he puts in - and would give him more rope of his errors IF he was younger BUT he is 24.
Not spring chicken and I'm getting in my head more due to Graz the stat man seems most of our blokes mature later ??????

Well I find that a bit of a long bow and thats whats wrong with hanging here not playing games per season in comparo to EU and rest of asia most cases.

Miller reminds of someone that would be better suited to something like lacrosse.

He wouldn't be my first choice but I'd much prefer him in a back 4. In this lunatic system the wing backs are far too important and Miller ain't that.

And yet, Miller is the only player prepared to have a go.

Everyone else is too terrified to defy the coach's instructions, and so we dissipate into the distance...

Curiously we dont seem to have ever had a long season domestically. I think we are virtually alone in that

In england, seasons are long deep below the pro tiers, right down to tier 8 i believe.

There were howls about the nst making the season a normal length while the npl and cl model runs concurrently
