    The Australian Championship Thread

I hope so. TBH I would like all football to be played February/March start with a November Australia Cup Final to finish the season.

I tend to agree with you except for the autumn/winter comment. The current start in October ties them to the ALM calendar. Assuming the Championship and the ALM get to 14 in the next couple of years with a full home and away they will be replicating the ALM schedule.

Forget what was announced today. Does anybody know what is the state of further clubs to join the 2026 (hopefully home and away) version. I've heard a lot of rumours but really don't know anyone close enough to any of the clubs to confirm.

    Ccm v johor

The only replay I saw DPC didn't touch the Malaysian player. The Malaysian player played the ball to a CCM player (and there was another between him and the goal) and then collapsed on the ground. Even if he did touch him (1) was it enough to go down and (2) with two players behind the ball...

    A-league attendances 24/25

TBH I think they are too close to WSW. They would have already drawn from that area. Wolves would have been a much better choice. That said - they supposedly have a very good stadium deal and security costs for such small crowds would be cheap as well. I'm not sure if they get a percentage of...

    Official LFC - Slotball 24/25

I wouldn't have minded a bit more creativity in the team. Gakpo or Mac Allister may have been handy against a team that would be hard to break down and their keeper had a blinder. That said - good luck to Plymouth and hope they continue their run.

    A-league attendances 24/25

I was specifically talking about the Kolkota derby. Funnily enough the last of those was relocated for some reason to another city and only got around 2,000 people. "The Kolkata Derby, held at Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, saw only a handful of fans from Kolkata in attendance. The...

I wouldn't mind seeing some Kolkota derby like crowds in Australia

    NPL 2025

CCM - because of their youth policy tend to go the other way. Their NPL sides are traditionally younger than the SFC and WSW sides (more of an U20 side) and tend to be beaten earlier on by the normal NPL sides. As they mature they come better in the second half of the season and start...

    NPL 2025

CCM may start slow but 2 of the keepers and 4 others have been in ALM squads this season. I expect them to kick in the second half of the NPL season when Eames, De Lima, Scicluna, Warshawsky, Pavlesic and Brandtman are available each week after the ALM season.

    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 17

Basically we are agreeing. My only differing is that Irankunda often fouls (including pulling shirts against defenders). Farrell was strong enough and quick enough not to be beaten by him regularly. Irankunda is a physical player, it enables a lot of what he does. But he does not like it when...

    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 17

I agree that Kuol left too early and he should have continued here until he was playing full games on a regular basis. His loan deals have offered nothing and Newcastle have admitted they got them wrong. However, his record here was better than Irankunda. In Australia no-one could contain him...

    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 17

Left at a similar age to Irankunda. A goal involvement (goal or assist) every 58 minutes in the ALM. Irankunda a goal involvement every 103 minutes in the ALM. Still only 20. He will do fine. Newcastle have admitted they have made mistakes in the loan deals.

    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 17

Kuol remains on Tyneside Newcastle United have not received any suitable loan offers from Australia for Garang Kuol. As things stand, he will stay on Tyneside and try to prove his worth in the second string. The Magpies are sympathetic to his situation but don't want to risk another bad loan...

Yep definitely still up in the air. Given points accumulated and form over the last 6 games the table would end up as AUCK52 ADL52 MAC50 WUN49 MCI44 SFC36 CCM36 WEL34 MVC32 WSW32 NUJ22 GLY16 BNE12 This seems to suggest that only NUJ GLY and...

    ALM TV Ratings

So essentially a very incomplete measure (no offence NoMates as the figures are the ones you can get). I rarely watch football on FTA so even a football fanatic will not be counted. ( I am aware of the OZTAM sampling)

More likely that no-one is talking to Kalac because of his bluster while important negotiations are going on. Never known for his considered opinion.
