2025 Australia Cup final rounds thread

That's a cool idea. The biggest factor for expanding the Cup is cost, and I'm not sure FA will be expanding any time soon. They haven't even mentioned the Women's Australia Cup again after they previously promised it. I think that would be next before the men's comp is expanded.

One thing with your slot distribution is South Australia being harshly underrated! They are actually the 2nd best performing federation over the history of the cup. My own scientifcally proven coefficient table shows that they deserve more spots 😅

This doesn't mean that SA is stronger overall than NSW. It just means that SA teams at the cup perform better than the NSW teams at the cup, but NSW have more teams present.

In summary, Queenland, WA and Northern NSW have too many spots, SA too few, and Victoria is absolutely dominant even with four or five teams present and easily deserve more spots than NSW, or NSW could lose a spot.

I know the spots are given based on number of clubs in the federation. But I think it should be based on quality rather than quantity. Why NNSW and WA get multiple spots when they've never performed over a decade is poor for the competition and a bad look.

This might be how the number of spots based on merit and current coefficients would look with the current 21 spots, then it will even itself out over the years and the number of spots perpetually updated:

VIC - 6
SA - 3
NSW - 3
QLD - 3
TAS - 2
ACT - 1
NNSW - 1
WA - 1
NT - 1
oh wow how did you construct the coefficients?

Yeah that’s a good shout - I just used similar proportions to how they currently do it with club numbers/participants. Maybe it’s worth looking into a hybrid system (eg 4 spots are reserved for the 4 states with the highest coefficients or something like that)

I started it a few years ago to compare strengths of the federations. Points based on results against the difference in tiers and against federations other than their own (because same fed match-ups cancel each other out). The spreadsheet just evolved into a hot mess haha, but it works well enough.

Nice
Surprised vic is so much stronger than nsw
In fact sa is stronger than nsw!

Yeah Victoria really accelerated away from the pack with three cupsets against the A-League last year.
NSW were poor in the A-League as well last season. Only WSW making finals, and getting knocked out in the first round.
Anyone know if there is some reason for the drop in results or is it just an unfortunate coincidence?

Which superpower did everyone else get? I got a bit of telekinesis. The other day some yellow-plate wanker cut me off and then immediately rear-ended the car in front of me. It was exactly how it played out in my head.
I would like that superpower. Nice result - except for the guy tailended.

It was a young woman (late twenties) and she did not hold back at all. The first words out of her mouth were 'you better have insurance mf'er'. Wasn't too much damage, and both were un-injured but not a great way to start your morning. Dude wasn't eager to accept blame until he realised I had dashcam video.

I really need to get mine installed lol

Definitely Leichhardt. That's where they played the matches against MV and WSW. The place is going to be rocking again for this match.
yes I know always been Leichardt I was at both just hoped nothing changed looking ahead.
I reckon its the perfect venue despite some others saying otherwise.
