'Stripper nights' !!!!

Geez those were the days. When I lived in Darwin one of the leagues club (a club, not a club building) put on a whole bunch of them on once at an event lovingly titled 'Slutarama'.

There were strippers in every pub back then 2 on at lunch time and then another 2 at 6pm for happy hour.

Hell we even used to get them to sell our meat trays for the soccer club in the pub when I lived in Cairns.

Lol, not any more.

Nothing wrong with a visit to the titty bar mate, just perhaps a touch innapropes when function is for mums and dads of junior players?

Well done to the club for making it a jam packed day.
This fixture will likely take a lot of attention off the Italian derby being played at the same time just down the road at the Marconi club and understandably so. Hopefully the weather turns out alright and there’s a big crowd

Clubs should not be subject to coming up with $500k in a fund to join the Championship.
A League teams don't need to so either should the Championship aspirants.
This is the sticking point as to why the second tier cannot get off the ground, full home & away with more clubs.
Greed as usual rules the day, JJ was the chief culprit before he left his position.

I think they pay a massive fee up front mate.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a guarantee to ensure staff don't go unpaid. Just because Western United are a complete mess doesn't mean we should allow it in our Championship. But if we're sticking with the group format then a guarantee is petty.

How much for a guarantee, I don't know. $250k was suggested by AAFC early days, but costs have skyrocketed since then, $500k might be bang on these days.

I'm still awaiting full transparency from FA as to how the clubs failed their bids.

Sadly I think you might be waiting for a while...... transparency and FA are terms that don't often belong in the same sentence...

As for the $500K surety, the writing was on the wall when they made 8 foundation clubs pay for it then proposed to have another 8 x clubs "join" the inaugural season for free? Something is really rotten in all this...... either rotten or incompetent, I cant quite decide which I choose to believe.

Why not both? 😂

I was assuming the $500k was just for a league season not a group format, hence why it's been refunded. Only a guess though. There shouldn't be a fee for a groups stage, surely.... That competition wouldn't be taken seriously if winning clubs had to pull out as to not pay a fee. But nothing surprises me these days haha.

Mind you, A League teams get tv money, sure its only $580k. Also, greater sponsorships, transfer money and player expenditure outside the cap.
Championship teams should be free for a long while.

Petty from the so called "professionals" you can smell the fear from down here... United will STILL win... players probably doubly motivated after this.

what a petty and gutless move by SFC.

Furious United president Mark Ivančić told the Hrvatski Vjesnik that he was puzzled by the furore.

“Sydney FC is trying to bar Ante from leading our side into this important and historic clash, and we are not happy,” Ivančić said.

“This is exactly the same situation that unfolded a few years ago with Sydney Olympic and they let him coach. What is the difference this time?

“Ante is in a really difficult situation. He wants to coach United, this is a big game for him. He is an ambitious and talented coach. But he is caught in a difficult position because he also leads Sydney FC’s women’s team.

“I don’t think this situation is fair on Ante or on us.”

its been confirmed by the club just now, Ante Juric will not be on the bench for the game.

Yet again the proof is in the hypocricy... not like we didnt know who is against us all these years, against this comp... lets see what all those new dawners have to say now! You know the ones that keep telling us how much they support this idea of fair competition and growth of the sport!

Don’t agree with it at all but at least it’s not a bad excuse now if things don’t go well
