Mea Culpa ..... and apologies. Although, to be fair I didnt exactly condemn it... my exact post was:Must say I enjoyed the discussion around who was paying me to write nice things about the NPL.
In almost 20 years of writing about football, here's how many clubs have honestly asked me to write something positive about them.
Zero.
I approached Preston long before the Round 5 fixture against South Melbourne because I recognised the significance of the game.
It was the sort of thing any proactive journalist could do. That there's practically nowhere to publish these stories is by far the bigger issue.
??? Why would somebody who writes articles for a living see getting paid to right an article as a slur?? You really do confuse me sometimes Mid... I very much doubt that my club has paid for someone to write on article as something as niche as the Roar but I wouldn't begrudge them if they did... Its content and advertising copy after all... I dont begrudge Preston trying to generate some publicity from a large crowd... Im struggling to see your problem here?
Perhaps Tuckerman didnt get paid, and the article was a "collaboration" to drive eyeballs to his other a league articles from a fresh. yet to be tapped, audience??? Again, its no more or no less than what 99.99% of so called football journalists in this country do.
I guess Janakan and his alter ego Frank Brunoskevic have left a bad taste in many a mouth....
