2026 World Cup Squad

Think, (almost hoping) Miller will fill that backup Geria role and one of Bennie, Silvera, Adamson, Strain will step up and take that RWB starting role.

Wow someone actually omitted Behich and Duke. I think Miller will grow this season. For me versatility gets you in. I think Geria has excellent cards in this regard. Rowles I like but I think Degenek really showed such professionalism in his games that he'll get in if fit.

We have so many good choices now I just see Metcalfe isn't there. That's not foing to happen. He's got to be included. Teague will go as a Popovic favourite but a stale season might make it tricky.

I know it puts pressure on plan A but having Triantis and thereby dropping 1 CB, so take Triantis as a listed mid, Circati, Souttar, Burgess, Degenek, Matthews, allows to add one more decent attacker or creative type. Meanwhile, listing Geria and Farrell as wingbacks could even see Degenek or Matthews left out. They all warrant selection but I find we always stack our defence and then lack in other areas. Omit Degenek, Matthews and add Nisbet, Luongo, Tilio or Arzani.

Notice how no one talks about Caceres or Borrello? Velupillay disrespected. Such a wild card. Karacic and Devlin are playing well. Wish we could fit them in as their stamina and harassment works.

I think that Duke and Borello bring physicality to the #9 role. But Duke no longer has the speed to cope with fast defenders. So that means that the front three plus the midfield really need to gel and have the skills to allow for pinpoint accuracy.

I've run my eyes over it and even checking the national team wikis we still have blokes we forget. Did you include all 17 Championship players? :D

Watts another who's packed on some muscle. Thanks Duke for the final window but please can we see a power vacuum? Imagine seeing Watts, Toure and Juric in a North American friendly.

And after all of this, arguably our best football brain it seems, Kalik.

Was scratching my head im sure ive forgotton someone!

I feel like a squad position is wide open for a lot of guys. Really hard to predict who will be able to grab it with so many transfers this off season.

Injuries aside, are the below guys basically starters unless something unusual happens?

Striker appears most up for grabs. I feel like O'Neil, Miller and Goodwin are ahead for the other three spots. Just not as much of a lock as the other guys I have down.
Thoughts? This isn't my ideal line up, just where I think things stand.

Watched both him and Liam Rose as youngsters. TBH Rose looked better. Really only seen highlights since but playing for Hajduk Split is a bit double-sided. Yes - he has the gig there. No - it is a very strong club and it is easy to look good in a strong squad.

Look at Arzani - looks good in a strong team, but what happens when he needs to stand up and carry the team.

Forgot Leckie. If he has a solid season I would expect him to go.

It feels like this is the most open squad for a world cup we have had.

Ah yes leckie

Would be useful in poppas system since he likes to go long if we get pressed

I would have Patrick Beach ahead of Peraic-Cullen although I would probably need a defibrillator watching him come into the middle of the ground. As far as Leckie, although a beast when he is up and about, he is now too injury prone.

Peraic cullen is based on how much i hope he improves this season. Born 2006 he is very young and a good chance to improve quickly
