A-League Mens 24/25 - Quarter Final

Melb Victory’s finals experience came to the fore tonight, they were the better team tonight and even with the undefeated streak WSW looked like dears in the headlights and overall it was too bright for them as I don’t think they played as well as they usually did.

I think Victory will give Auckland a good crack, after all Auckland have been the best team in the competition but Victory’s experience in finals games could be a factor in this one.

Must be a full moon or something. Diles vs Staj after the whistle, and just now in the Ulster Final after the whistle... who did it better? 😂

While I thought we were a small chance (the 4-2 result in March flattered them IMO), I was very surprised by that result.

That game was complete dominance. Arzani had the ball on a string and apart from the 2 minute spell when they scored, our defence held up very well.

The tactics Diles deployed was interesting. We overloaded the left flank. Arzani, Bos and Nish were all looking for each other on the left. And they struggled to deal with it.

It got a bit nervy at the end as we sat back and tried to hold them off, but overall, we were the better team.

Was finals experience a factor? You would have to say yes in hindsight.

We now have a home game (and a women’s GF) to deal with next weekend. Next weekend just got very interesting. Of course Auckland will be very tough, but if Arzani is able to play like that again, we will push them all the way.
