A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 22

Mariners so poor I decided not to watch the second half. Di Pizio? No awareness, continually loses the ball; Eames out of his depth; midfield are just a bunch of static cones watching the ball.

The top six is pretty much set so there's going to be some filler matches. Good to see brissy challenging Adelaide

I wouldn't be so sure about that. SFC have a lot of opportunity to make finals. They have 5 games against teams directly above them. Including the AFC games they are undefeated in the last 7. They have also scored 16 goals in the last 7. Clean sheets in the last 3. I'm predicting Adelaide drop out of the 6 and SFC make finals.

Mariners were terrible-looked like a poor NPL side.Di Pizio is not up to standard and Eames while talented is not physically strong enough to impose himself.Peraic-Cullen made some great saves and Sainsbury did a lot in defence.

Mariners just gutted in off season. They needed stronger recruitment. Still, this is the chance to grow back so it's always something to watch.

That was tough to watch as a Victory fan. Struggled to get out of their own half. Langerak could have hosted a dinner party and they still wouldn't have got in.

No money as Richard Peil has withdrawn as an investor-leaving Charlesworth as the only source of funds and he is parsimonious to say the least.Peil also sacked the fitness trainer who was excellent-remember last season CCM played about 42 games and their fitness levels were excellent.I also heard he sacked one or two Academy coaches and the pipeline of very talented young players is fast drying up.

Peil did put money in but also acted as a " disruptor"-a very " in " word in these Trumpian and dystopian times.

Some quality goals scored by young Aussie talents which is great, Eli Adam's is an interesting prospect he plays like a mini version of a Cole Palmer lanky but with good technique too a great strike for the goal.

Somewhat agree on Adams, but for me he just doesn’t physically impose himself on the game enough. Goes missing for large parts of the game. But when he does show up, it is very classy.

booney and know your a ccm supporter and have some intel possibly but how is the pipeline of talented young players fast drying up ?
The academy has been going on for years and years and done very well with the lack of funding long before Peil, I'm sure countless promising players haven't jumped ship for where would they go ? down to SFC/WSW Bulls for eg ?
They have plenty ccm teams in varies comps incl NPL.
Peil set up a new gym etc during his time if I recall right at Pluim shown on th edoco ?, I expect there is more than 1 fitness trainer.
One thing watching from the sideline and after watching the doco late last year that irks about this league.
After all the highs/wins/trophy's and all the background hard work made by the management on encouraging locals to turn up to games your winning squad gets gutted and look where they are now.
As we know fair weathered aussies who finally do turn up to games once the winning dries up many depart don't bother going to games.
After all that time investment building crowd support doesn't make for good longevity.
%'s rule sure but in normal case's when your team wins the league etc it keeps building on that and contest the following season/s going from strength to strength, here you get to the top and you fall back down as quick as switching off the light.

I take my hat off to Peil stumping up $7M over 2yrs and deciding nup, I can't keep fueling the fire for what ?
More loss than gain.

I don’t know why young players that are not from the academy choose to play for these big clubs, these smaller clubs suit players like Adams as it’s their best way of getting opportunities to play first team football.
He was never going to get a proper chance to play for Victory which makes Alex Badolato’s move more baffling.

Tilio, Talbot, Lachlan Wales, Trewin, Schreiber all moved to MC and they got game time. I don't know why Lachlan Wales got game time but he did. I suspect that Badalato feels that he is good enough to get senior exposure and that MVC agreed to some minimum.
But I do agree that some players are better off moving to other clubs to get game time for example Clayton Taylor at the Jets.

Diles was the head coach of Wanderers Academy. When Badolato was playing NPL

And so the cunning Grazor wheeled and swerved around, trying hard to get the Centrehalf to admit that 'in the know' meant it just looked like it to his experienced eye.

And still the Centrehalf, seemingly oblivious to the cunning manipulations, avoided the trap with ease...
