Auckland: MVFC (a), PG (h), WU (a).
Western United: BR (a), SFC (h), Auckland (h).
City: WSW (a), AU (h), SFC (h).
Wanderers: MCFC (h), NJ (a), MFC (a).
MVFC: AFC (h), MFC (a), NJ (h).
Sydney: NJ (h), WU (a), MCFC (a). *Also have ACL 2 this week.
Adelaide:
Nix (h), BR (a), MCFC (a), Bye.
MacArthur: CCM (a), MVFC (h), WSW (h)

Auckland need 6 points from the next 3 games to claim the premiership with 53 points.
They can also win with 5 points from the next 3 games, as long as City doesn't win all 3 as well as manages to close the GD gap (unlikely for city).
We can assume Auckland will probably take 3 points against Perth, but MV and WU (both away games for ACK), will be challenging.
If Auckland lose all 3 games, one of MC, WU, WSW and MV could very well take the premiership.

I think we beat Auckland this week. 9 wins, 3 draws at 1 loss at AAMI Park all season. And I think we are playing OK right now.

Brisbane have looked very dodgy defensively all game (same all season), no surprise that they concede.
The defending was grim but then I saw it was bility

Bility should improve eventually but so far he hasn't inspired a lot of confidence

Maybe, but to me Bility doesnโ€™t look like he will develop enough to be an A League quality player. Just my opinion, time will tell.
He reminds me of natta
technically neat but really mistake prone

I wonder if 6 would suit him more where his mistakes would be less costly

A committed and positive first 35 minutes backed up by 10 minutes of stupid passive possession that saw Western get a chance to push forward. Bility made the clear decision NOT to go goal side of Ibusuki and our 2 goal cushion was back to business as usual at the break.

The first half was fantastically positive for the first 35 minutes without being anywhere near flawless or polished - but great to see us getting lucky with some of the bounces of the ball and making luck for the rest. A whole team effort that kept us pressing without being overly aggressive.

Second half was a struggle. We made it hard for Western most of the time but we just aren't geared/structured/motivated to killing off opponents when we lead. We always play the kick it anywhere option when calm heads could see us continuing to dominate play safely instead - just stop going back to the keeper when it isn't a crucial safety release. It makes for a tense 90+ minutes every game when we know how liable we are to conceding piss easy goals.

Great to get the win and stay in the very serious and intense race to avoid the wooden spoon. I don't care what people say about the bottom of the table having nothing to play for - we do not want the wooden spoon and I am finding the struggle highly motivating as a supporter.

Herrington, Brazete, Burke-Gilroy, Klein - once again stand out players bit this time in a side that played some really nice football in the first half particularly. Wouldn't be surprised to see all 4 disappear before next season.

Jelacic is showing more and more a bad touch. He takes the ball into conflict and loses it often but after putting himself in great positions his first touch coughed up the ball several times tonight and turned promising attacks into desperate defensive recoveries.

Berenguer showed some excellent touches and moments of vision again. I liked his pause on the ball to flat foot the wide defender and give Hingert a nice headstart on his overlapping run. Bought a couple of seconds for him with experience and timing when many would have simply played the ball first time.

Filthy at the dirty Western bastards not giving the ball back after we put it out due to a player genuinely down. Booooooo!!!!

Western just looked to be going through the motions of a strategy without the individual or team commitment required to win. Got to look at Aloisi for that - must have said "keep playing the system and the goals will come" without actually going out to earn the goals. Maybe they looked at our table position and the whole season and figured it was sewn up.

I cannot think of a standout Western player - but that doesn't mean there weren't any of course - just that I don't remember anyone making a difference.

1 shot each in the first 30 odd minutes of the second half summed up both Western's lack of drive on goal and our backed off defensive mindset.

Got to shout out Burke-Gilroy again though. He shut down that left fullback area brilliantly tonight.

A win still feels bloody brilliant even in a write off season :)

He doesnโ€™t strike me as being good enough on the ball for a 6.
He plays like he is a good ball runner but he can't back it up with the skill. Suspect judgement still. I think he has the vision to be a good creative DM but he cannot execute what he sees. Every time he runs the ball out of defence I clench and wait for the oncoming train.

Bility would need a strong and experienced centreback partner to guide him for him to improve. It is not a lack of effort or commitment in my eyes - it is poor decision making. We do not have that partner for him with our current squad so where does he get the real time game development to be able to work out the mistakes?

Herrington is learning the position brilliantly but he isn't the wise old head that can bring Bility on.

I suspect dropping back to NPL and playing alongside an experienced defender might help Bility a lot if he isn't going to get it from within. Got to remember he came from the youth setup into the aleague arena and hasn't had the luxury of a stable and solid defensive team around him. Maybe he will improve just by playing - I think it takes more than that though.

He is still at an age where He can improve rapidly. Lots of players who are crappy their first season of regular starts come good the next season

Good points re Bility. I do enjoy your Roar match reports. Regarding Bility, I also think he might find it a bit easier playing as the RCB rather than LCB but given that his CB partner is even less experienced has been given that position. I can't remember if he's been playing there all season. Anyway, let's hope Bility turns potential 'bility into outstanding 'bility on the park. ๐Ÿ˜„

Congrats to BR. They are starting to play together as a team. They just need to fill in some gaps. IF Berenguer wasn't so old and injury prone, BR would have had a very different season. I don't rate Bility and cannot see any improvement forthcoming no matter where he plays or who he partners with.
@RIMB Jelacic was not the only one who decides to take on three defenders - Brazzette and Klein did it as well. This needs to be coached out of them.
