Eames with 3 really good technical strikes this game either hitting a post or forcing a good save
Curious if he develops a thunderboot next season

funny thing is I think Zadkovic had us heading in the right direction, even a few weeks before we started getting results. We look a league level. Im now wondering if kicking him out is a mistake.Well that's that.
A free flowing, entertaining game with Mariners putting much more consistent pressure on our 6 yard box and us applying more consistent attacking pressure in general.
Both teams with a lot of desperate last ditch saves and both keepers with some top saves.
Not a high quality game as such, but plenty of quality in a series of moments for both teams all through the game.
Mauragis has improved over the last couple of seasons from a racehorse with little finish to a much better rounded and effective player. His ability to glide through individuals into open space to get in behind defensive structures and then do something useful with it is really quite impressive.
Doka turns general pressure into specific danger all the time and the quality of his deadball crossing is exceptional in our league.
Burke-Gilroy dropped the ball badly for Mariners goal - simply not being aware enough in the moment that he got run past and too late to recover. Unusual for him and I doubt he will be doing that again.
Bility his usual self - shutting down all sorts of dangerous moments then getting the wrong side of a player running into space behind us or turning the ball over. Didn't cost us tonight and we won off a lucky post and a real team effort in defence.
Again, Zadkovich showed his determination for us to close out a game with a one goal lead and changing from positive directional play across the entire pitch into a defensive half-pitch game. I genuinely thought we were going to be cooked and we could have been - yet the bounce favoured us tonight and we pulled it off.
Brazete looked quite shattered to come on in the second half then be subbed off late in favour of Zimarino. I hope he isn't injured and it was just Zadkovich choosing a more defensive attacker like Duke over a creative and dynamic runner on the ball.
Berenguer continued to show his quality and skill disposing of the ball time and again in really nice plays. Last time we will see him play in this league I imagine and I don't think it is a premature departure for all the value he ended up being for us in the late season.
Klein is continuing to step up game after game. He shows up anywhere from midfield forward and is developing into a quality attacking midfielder (or he always was and we are just getting to see it developing further this season).
Relatively quiet game from Hore with him being pretty tightly marked all game. He does not have the pace that would make him a consistent producing forward but he knows what he can do and his ability to be on the end of a pass and do something with it made a difference to us when he came back.
They said Abubakar had been sick the last couple of days so we lost him early and our focus on attacking positive play took a hit from then on. It is no coincidence that our improvement late in the season lined up with him joining the team.
From the commentators this game, we have 13 players off contract, and we are likely to have seen Zadkovich's last aleagues game in charge of the Roar. How does a club handle this sort of situation? New coach would want their own players - but having good players off contract they are easy targets for anyone who wants them. Maybe we will keep Zadkovich. Maybe we will keep our good players. All guesswork for us in the stands.
Glad we rounded out the season picking up results that we failed to through most of the season. I actually rate Zadkovich's people skills and have a lot of respect for how he encourages and lifts the team from the sideline. Personally I do wonder how he would go with a good full squad. He has certainly produced a competitive team for most of the season with players lacking the clinical finishing that would have made it very different. He must have a decent management team around him and as an individual have a pretty decent football managers head to have us playing as well as we did without results.
Not our worst season in points and no wooden spoon is something given how it was looking 5 or 6 matches ago. Stuff those who think these games are meaningless. Brazete getting taken off showed how much he wanted to be out there contributing. The fantastic desperation to stop shot after shot in some very intense periods of play - with Mariners applying the heat through well constructed and implemented attacks one after another. It is inconceivable (I do not think it means what I think it means) on the back of previous games that we could hold out and not concede a second. Players from both teams were playing to win - no doubt - and I'd question anyone calling themselves a supporter if they said they didn't care how the result went tonight because the season was long over. Plenty of other reasons to not be interested in results based on how the club has handled so many things - but not just because the season was already dead.
Looking to the Australia Cup play off as the next time we will probably have any idea about where our club is headed next.
Many players stood up for us and the shirt this season - I am proud of the lads staying positive and in how we ran the season out - including Ruben. Onya Roar!
