A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 3

teague definitely looks like he could be going overseas soon!

You spotted valadon as a standout for the olyroos when he was getting little club game time. Definitely looks a decent player

I don' t want Teague to go overseas ATM, such is his current fast improvement with the current Melb Vic game plan. It really suits his skill set.

Valadon and Youlley are doing things few Aussie ever have, at quite an early age.

I'm led to believe Valadon has had a long injury period. Until this round I was really worried about his defensive capabilities - jockeying, tackling, making intercepts, closing down space to force errors in team Squeezing game plans, speed over the turf, despite being very quick on the turn, and displaying nimbleness on his feet.

Today Jordi V read play well, anticipating contests by dashing over to tackle or steal the ball from an opponent receiving. Although he probably had the more favourable body position relative to his opponents, it is still impressive to see this side of his game coming on. Valadon is going to be an increasing target for opposition teams to foul.

ATM he reminds me of Daniel De Silva. Except Valadon is more two footed and a better passer and mover in tight spaces, whereas DDS was a more accomplished dribbler and runner with the ball.

People generally go to games for one or more of the following reasons: 1. The quality of the play, 2. An affinity with the club/fellow attendees, 3. The general entertainment value (atmosphere) or 4. To watch favourite players.
In early seasons we had 2,3 and 4 with club favourites like Matty, Murdocca, Reinaldo. We had atmosphere with crowds averaging up to 18k. Then, we had former and current internationals like Tiato, Moore, and Ognenovski players like Broich and Berisha and brilliant youngsters like Oar and Kruse. Then we had Ange ball.
For the past 5-6 years the quality of the football has been poor, no characters, no quality youngsters, and no atmosphere.

The club/ground actively reduced the atmosphere when they stopped selling tickets to the areas near the Den. All General admission was moved to the opposite end of the ground to be away from the nasty active support and their singing.

Welcome to the forum, CO.

I've liked the look of young Roar player Jelacic. He has a fluid fake step over and outside of the foot cut in the opposite direction. Plus he uses La Croquetas. I've been able to coach the latter with success, but haven't quite grasped the former.

I love watching Jelacic do them!

Duels tend to imrpove over time with young players. Hopefully will do so for valadon quickly

MacArthur came back into the game against Vic and nearly stole a draw.

Frankly though, Vic played superb football for 60- 70 minutes of the game.

Watching Arzani when he came on, it must be disciplinary or injury that he was left out, because he looked like the best player on the pitch. His technical qualities - first touch, dribbling, ball carrying, were breathtaking! Also, like Piscopo, Nath Atkinson he gets his head up beautifully when ball carrying and dribbling - like Lachlan Brook and Jake Hollman.

He also made two incredible intercepts, one resulted in a goal. The entire Vic team lifted as Arzani walked onto the pitch! Today Arzani did a reverse Elastico, a dribbling technique most find impossible - few players I've coached can do it, and I can't coach it by showing them, like most other dribbling techniques. Another side camera angle showed his superb balance and constant rhythm changes as he ball carried - fast, slow, fast, slow - into the pen box.

Jake Hollman is another fine young player, but he was starved of the ball today by the imperious Vic playing NC passing football. Young mids Valadon and Teague ran the show. Hollman still made a brilliant last ditch diving tackle in the pen box sprinting about 3- 40 min metres - and - made other incredible turns, as he received a few times breaking the line with a first touch and swivel.

Piscopo is a classy technician too this year. What has happened in the off season? He scored a fantastic goal from well outside the pen box that was the winner. G

Geria was a solid defender - as usual.
