AFCON 2025

Egypt - I just don't see it relating to Africa but being in the continent.
Nothing to debate its just my way of visionning them compared to Africans, maybe a silly look of it.

Sure latino leagues are stronger and structured - talking with Grazer I think its been that Brazil is lagging behind so much now since their heydays, their leagues seem a mess, academies are costing too much, the free areas to play football once covered by kids now have buildings for eg......

Will some african nation get their league together what you know ?
Who are say the Top 5 leagues their ?
Morrocco sure stepped up last WC.
I kinda of see the point, but Egypt is truly part of Africa. The source of the Nile is considered to be Ethiopia. It's well and truly an African country and I don't really see it relating to any other continent.

Africa has too much corruption. I don't see them fixing it any time soon. South Africa for example should not be as bad as they are, but they have too much corruption and also this stupid obsession with "super diski" for them to be anything serious. The North African countries tend to have a stranglehold on the continent tournaments from a league perspective, but again, don't really go further than that due to a mixture of corruption and lack of progress in terms of tactical and technical prowess.

Was just being jokingly facetious as I am from Zimbabwe so it's like, "hey, that's my team!!"

But everyone is allowed on board The Warriors train.

Thanks zimbos for the intel, on my part it shows my ignorance not understanding the areas well at all hence as mentioned my silly outlook.
Good to learn.
Yes corruption is rife from what I've read heard through general news.
Sth Africa should be a dominate force in many codes you'd think ? but the corruption must be massive. can you explain in brief super diski ? their league ?

Diski means football. Super Diski is more specifically relating to skill within a game. Not skill as in something amazing, but more rather like showboating. Some times the players aren't actually benefitting or going anywhere with it, but they are just showing off for the crowd. Some of the skills are things you'd never see anywhere else on a field because you watch them and then go, "what was the point?"

As for South Africa being a dominant force. Fortunately their rugby hasn't suffered. But Africa has this problem with empowerment. It's good in theory, but executed terribly. They basically set quotas or make forced rules. So a player who might not earn the spots gets in as a quota player. It's what has destroyed Zim cricket. It's what's destroying South African cricket. With football in SA, it's predominantly been a black mans sport. The problem is, the money comes in because their league is decent and the people keep flocking to play the sport, but the investment in development is not there. The people at the top steal the money and they inevitably will have a squad of 11 who play in a decent enough league to make up a national squad, but they don't really care about the progression. I guarantee if a white man came in and said they wanted to make changes, there would be uproar. Until then, as long as mates are being paid.

Oh ofcourse... should have made an educated guess from the name ... doh :)
Hahah, all good. It's not so common a term. I did consider changing my name but decided to keep the same one from the old forum.

ah huh thanks re diski.
Get it
Bit like Brazillian chinga but diski African way.
Yer those vids some of it is OTT but impressive to see.
Park football fun despite dust bowls, futsal small sided games makes for great skillsets, like the latinos hence their skills.
Barca and some of us have mentioned how much we lack this kind of fun play todays world.
Kids not allowed out like I had as kids growing up, we'd have 20+ down at the local fields playing ballsports after school.
Nothing like the above mentioned nationalities but we were outdoors.

SA always been a political basket case from our perspective, not surprised mate.
Though one thing sounds common, people at the top squander/take/waste the $$'s for their own agendas.

Agree that kids should be encouraged to be more creative and inventive. The ones that annoy me with diski are when they do stupid things that are pointless, like sitting on the ball.
