AFL thread

It was so easy to spot all the overseas influencers they brought over last season. I can't believe people listen to them. They get flown over here for free, stay in hotels for free, get the top seats at the AFL for free...

This is what happens when you put all your faith behind franchises.

But the .. was it the AFL chief, or the Foxtel chief in the video that brought it up, that is spot on: Viewers aren't losing games, they're just being shifted. So just sounds like a bit of a molehill on their end.

But one thing the Minister is a bit misleading on... the anti-siphoning list is designed to guarantee Free To Air coverage for listed sports, provided a broadcaster is willing to purchase the rights to it (and can show all the games).

Do they expect these overseas influencers to promote the game in their own country?
Or is it just for publicity in Australia?

Probably a bit of both.

They expect overseas promotion and I don't doubt these people posted a picture of themselves at the stadium enjoying the hospitality - at the end of the day that's what they do - it's supposedly a win/win.

The main issue here being the deluded AFL still thinks this makes a difference to their market overseas.

That said given the IQ of the average AFL fan - they're probably impressed that influencers come here to view a game and it only reinforces their love for the product.

I'm not on social media so I don't follow influencers. However the people who go on YouTube and post vlogs are a guilty pleasure of mine and if they do it for the AFL I may watch them

Going to be interesting how afl goes not having free to air games on Saturday. Seems it's the fastest way to lose fans

Great win tonight considering our outs and the fact North Melbourne had extra players wearing green.
