ALM TV Ratings

But what's the point of advertising anything? Why do Apple advertise when everyone knows about a iPhone
It's an interesting point.
I remember Coca-Cola once said that they could cease all advertising/sponsorships for an entire year and it wouldn't effect sales at all.

Yeah I think we can meet each other half way. Advertising is important but a league is a stale stinky sports league

Has the A League's new tv deal been announced yet?

I've been getting the feeling Ch10 and Paramount have slightly changed their attitude towards the A League. The Socceroos and Matilda's are great draw for them but domestic football?

Probably not. I'm not saying that Ch10/P+ wouldn't want to continue on with broadcasting the competition but it's understandable that they are losing a bit of interest in it. I'm not particularly knowledgeable on the tv rights deals and ongoing costs of broadcasting the A League but I do wonder if it's financially viable for them.

Although it's obviously an enormous media organising and a lot of times these multinational multimedia companies are happy to take a financial hit on something if it means they are part of the bigger picture.

The TV deal will be done after next season, its unlikely they will get more money. Paramount is broke and the ratings although had been ok with some games played but the major ratings have been poor. They are better then last season though. With the new $3m Strick capt for next season maybe the APL are making it clear there getting another crap TV deal coming there way.

Interesting thoughts....

Paramount going broke??

I wasn't really aware of that.

Australia has what? 27 million people maybe? Not a huge population by any stretch of the imagination. Aussie Rules, Rugby League and to some extent cricket and Rugby Union dominate the market in terms of tv and media coverage.

Football and other sports are really just scrapping around for bits and pieces. It must be extremely challenging for A League clubs and their executives trying to make it all work. We all tend to moan and groan about the game but we probably shouldn't take them for granted.

P+ actually isn't going down its their parent P Global going through challenging times FYI of its overall business.
Doesn't mean they are goign to disappear.

The challenge more than anything is the AL model period and just a 27M pop that you can't live off event goers that is little in numbers.
Launched under massive fanfare and funding everyone got conned this is it here we are next to AFL/NRL yer right.
Its too expensive to get in and the ongoing costs has no chance of propering.
Buy a maccas Franchise between 1.6M to 2.6M and you know your on a winna, this business model is a joke from a business perspective.

You got a massive foundation beneath that was neglected that working together with a top flight would have had a far far better chance of growth and survival - maccas knows sugar hits only last for so long, those special burgers for X time brings quick incremental business, compared to a whole new club with massive costs but lacking customers coming back week in week out.
Makes NO sense.
