ALM/W TV deal

No I didn't need to ask. Maybe the countries they followed during Euros or their last names gave me a hint of their heritage, I don't know, all I know is yes they were all Aussies following an Aussie team in an Aussie competition.
Awesome, I am also an Aussie following an Aussie team in an Aussie Competition... so why can't my team play in YOUR comp?

I disagree w/your last paragraph most specifically. We improve our stocks as a ⚽️ nation by producing better players & coaches; we certainly don’t need a sycophant media/public-sector for that. We didn’t have the benefit of such things when Ange was progressing through his career at South Melbourne - heck, did the mainstream-media actually give anything slightly resembling a fvck that Ferenc Puskas, if you don’t mind, was actually coaching out here?

I’m not going to further entertain your however-well-intentioned naiveté, sorry. I’ve neither the time nor the burning inclination to do so👋🏼
Unfortunately, during Puskas's time at Sth Melb, if he didn't play in the PL (English Div 1) there was not much mainstream attention.
Plus, Pukas while being one of the greatest players of all time, his coaching career was not at that level, not even close.

Saying we need to produce better coaches and players is a roundabout way of saying we need more money. This is how it is done.
I know I said I wouldn’t respond to you, but fvck it I’ll bite on this one:

How much money do you think was needed to develop Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell and Tim Cahill(or even Craig Johnston) at junior-level before venturing into the world of senior-football? It wouldn’t have been a hell of a lot in the grand scheme of things, even adjusting for inflation. How much was needed to develop a useless log like Leigh Broxham(God knows why my ALM side’s nuffy fanbase ever salivated over him)?

You don’t think that the varying content of their respective ⚽️ educations has something to do w/the disparity in finished-product standard?

This obv applies to coaches too, hence why Chiefy Italiano and Ruben Zadkovich are polar-opposites in terms of coaching-philosophy, for instance..

You need to ask the APL that, as I've said to you many times, much preferred your team getting the spot ahead of either or both WU & Heart.
But you seem to like to blame me for it.
HAHAAH o fcourse Im not blaming you for it mate... BUT Id like to hear an answer from you regardless.... Answer that and at last we get to the root of the evil that has infected Australian football, and sadly, still seems to.

No-one’s disputing that last bit, even if coaching Panathinaikos to a European Cup final only to lose to Rinus Michels&Cruyff’s Ajax isn’t exactly to be sniffed at either.

Yeah there is something in that... TBF the mainstream media never even blipped when the Aleague trotted out Fowler or Yorke to coach either.. I know they are both miles behind Puskas both as players and as coaches but they DID play EPL in an era that was popular to mainstream Australia..... and still crickets.

I think I have also replied to you on that & you did not like my answer.
It's what your club is perceived to be. While this may have been true during NSL days, I believe now not to be true & hence why believed you should have gone in ahead of both Heart & WU.
I may have digs at you especially when you have digs at the A-League (rightly so, the APL is terrible) but not so much at those that follow the A-League, because we don't make the decision.
However, I believe you & Sth Melb fans are true Aussie football fans & your club deserves a run in the top tier of football in this country.

Awesome, now I want you to extrapolate that down to all (or at the very least most) of the NPL clubs and state league clubs, and church league clubs and amateur clubs in Australia.... WE ALL deserve a crack at top tier football, thats what I am driving at...

Using WU is a good example, look at their poor fans - OK, they may only be relatively new and only sust jumped on board but they are now going to be without a club whereas they could have been relegated INSTEAD of simply disappearing... Like Gold Coast, or Fury or the previous Auckland franchise etc etc.. Its NOT about nationalities anymore mate thats what I keep on going back to over and over again .. its about CLUBS - not just mine or yours but ALL ...

They APL only sees consumers, they think that those 500 rsted on WU fans will simply pick up and move to the nearest next francshie... thats garbage mate.... these people put their hearst and souls intpo a club and it is now going to disappear... its just shithouse...

See I don't disagree with you, if you look at most of my posts, I've been consistent.
This is not just the A-League thing, the NSL too didn't have pro/reg, the situation in this country in regard to football, whether it be playing ability, Top tier infrastructure or the ability to get the game mainstream, it's been the same for 50 years that I have been following football in this country. It's been useless.
You also going on about clubs & I'm now a rusted SFC supporter, so I'm going to defend if you go at my club.

This is 100% as it should be... But after putting 20 years of your support into Sydney FC wouldn't it be an absolute crime if your club dissolved over night because of the franchise model under it?

Everything you said could be true. But it's also true that if we generated enough revenue to support 10x the number of professional clubs, 10x the professional players and coaches. This increases opportunities to find and develop talent.

You can also reduce costs for participating right down the line. From playing costs, to coach education.

The biggest source of revenue for most (all?) sport, are the media deals.

This doesn't mention aus football, but gives a picture where the networks are at. Seven not doing well apparently. May not be able to continue with afl. Nine picking up afl would mean a lot less cash around for anything else, ie football.

Then again maybe they would want aleague as something to keep up Stan subscribers over summer similar to what fox did.

More on the epl. Optus continuing to pay close to half of the original deal just to get off it.
