Thanks for clarifying.
NP. I agree it's still a weird move, I can only assume motivated by money and a promise of more playing time than he was getting at AaB.
The only Australian player of recent times that I can recall moving on to slightly bigger things from K League 2 is Ryan Edwards, who went from Busan to Amorebieta in the Spanish 3rd tier and then stayed with that team when they won promotion to La Liga 2 for a season. He is now back in the Spanish 3rd tier with Marbella. But even though he was mostly a squad player, making it to La Liga 2 is still quite a step forward. If Iredale manages something similar from K League 2, I think we will all be quite impressed.

Where was Genreau playing? DM, CM, CAM? If he keeps getting games it's an interesting selection question for the national team.
Cm

I'm curious how it would work in poppas system. He struggles off the ball when his team has possession, getting maybe half as many passes a game as other cms in the league because he struggles to find pockets of space in build up

But he is very good on the ball and very good in defence. So if you pair him with someone good at opening passing lanes playing out he is ligue 1 quality and perhaps our best mid.

Problem is that means building up more often through Irvine who struggles in confined spaces

I don't think that works in Popovic's system. Those two centre mids need to get through so much work. It sounds like Genreau would fit defensively but you need someone well rounded who can move and present for passes. Otherwise we'd be even more listless going forward. Assuming he gets on the ball less than our other mids.

Out of curiosity, does he have a killer pass? A good range of passes? Playing devils advocate to my own point... if we're already a low possession midfield maybe there is utility in having someone who can fit defensively then make the most of the touches they do get.

He has a killer pass in traffic, able to split defenders when pressed and do it regularly but he didn't attempt any long balls. So it might be an unfortunate thing where he is our best player but doesn't fit with our teams system until triantis and robbo are available and in our best xi

Volpato back on the bench is curiouser than being excluded

Probably not about to be transferred then but also dropped for two weeks when he seemed to be a standout

Might have been dropped due to attitude like jovanovic just was?

burgess with a risky back pass that nearly results in a goal but he recovers well
he also made a last ditch tackle, a bunch a vital clearances and started a couple of attacks with some nice forward, defense splitting passes

midfield should have pressured the second goal a fraction more and it looked a savable shot if you are harsh...
