On FotMob. On Sofa score he rated 6.9, below most others in the team.

Sometimes there are quite divergent ratings between Sofascore and FotMob, although usually they rate reasonably closely. I prefer Sofascore ratings. It's a personal preference, I haven't done any rigorous analysis of matches where the ratings differ widely, as in this case.

Fair enough need to look at the stats. I think

for gk's fotmob collects xgot whereas sofascore doesn't. A big part of the gk ratings in fotmob is goals conceded compared to the xgot. Since he had a clean sheet but saved an xgot of around 1 that would give him a huge rating on fotmob. However, his long balls were inaccurate which both algorithms would penalise. Without the xgot saved in sofascore it makes sense they would give him a meagre score

Thanks for this explanation. I did read up FotMob's rating methodology some little while ago. I'm not a fan! That's why I prefer the Sofascore ratings. To my mind, Sofascore more truly reflects what I see more often than does FotMob, especially when there is considerable divergence in the ratings each gives.
To each his own. The x ratings seem to have taken over the world but I'm quite happy to just ignore them. I'm not a gambler so I don't see the need of them to induce me to try and predict an outcome in any match I might have an interest in, and then bet on that prediction.

I guess its hard to know whether a gk has made difficult saves or routine saves without the xgot

sofascore does have the advantage of covering npl

Big win for Portsmouth v Stoke. Cardiff also had some form. Both out of the relegation spots. Good for our AA's.

True. And to be fair he had a bad patch with injuries. You don't always hit peak form straight away after returning.
I accept that could be part of it but I think the main reason for his - and Hibs - upturn in form is the change in formation. He's mostly recently been playing as part of a front 2 which suits him better now than winger where he had been mainly deployed or occasionally as the sole striker. Hibs posters seem to attribute their form reversal to Gray uniting and rallying the troops but I think it is mostly due to him putting players in their best positions. The Cadden twins best positions are wing-back, Iredale's best position is LCB in a back 3, Miller's best position (now sometimes playing there) is RCB In a back 3, Boyle I've already mentioned. Putting players in their best positions usually improves your chances of victory, and nothing improves morale like winning.

I agree. Poppa would need to change formation to do it. Which I'd like to see him do. I'm not confident he will though. I think there's a problem with some of our players being played out of position atm.
