Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

That puts Hibs form into context with 4 Aussies a cornerstone. And Hearts fans were recently saying its the end of the Aussie "experiment" at their club.

Apparently Hayden Matthew’s on a moon boot and crutches, we got rotten luck with our best talents.
What is with the apparent injury proneness (if that is a word) of our players? I'd like to see a breakdown of matches missed due to injury per player per nationality across the European leagues, I suspect we (Australia) would be leading by some distance.

It seems like every player who goes from the A League to Europe gets injured reasonably seriously within months of going there.

As Lawrie McKinna has said many times over the years...

Australians play on rock hard pitches during summer, then move to (say) Scotland where the pitches are mostly soft (when not frozen).

Their soft tissue is used to the hard hot conditions of Oz but suddenly they're playing in mud.

And there's the problem.

I can’t explain it, it’s very weird.

I guess the softer pitches could mean a requirement for more flexible and robust joints which may not be naturally developed on harder Aussie pitches??

Not the worst working theory.

I've wondered if we are very behind in conditioning our players.

could be
the latest fa announcement mentioned teaching in injury prevention and allegedly has some programs they plan to roll out

hope matthews is fine....It's be really rotten luck for our backline

Well JBos has been in Europe for two seasons. Lots of EPL clubs get soft tissue injuries. And if Matthews is wearing a moon boot then it is likely to be an impact injury.

If Mathews was in a moonboot my bet is its ankle ligaments or broken bones in the foot. If its either of those thats rotten luck not conditioning. It'll be interesting to hear what it is. The soft tissue guys like Bos and Nieuwenhof I wonder about.

Oniell starting

We will need to rely on some old heads in these qualifiers
