hard to say, players can be completely different after a good season of game time. He hit a decent season in the bundesliga but is now several seasons in a row below 25 games+1000 minutes (4 seasons?) which means he would have declined substantially

Hrustic is so far off the national team radar for me. While I'd be alright with him being some emergency replacement, that's only after about 6 other guys can't. Segecic has to come in to be the left foot flair player.

Not sure on the injuries being based around playing in Australia... I think its more to do with the physical make up of the player.

Bennie has thrived at QPR because he's built for english football. The smaller more nimble guys will always struggle. Once waddingham and matthews thicken up a bit and put on some mass they will adjust easier.

Really great discussion though.

That was an awesome listen. I liked the shorter format.

The point made about athleticism was interesting i.e., that the AL isn't comparatively athletic. We're losing the race for our best athletes to other codes.

Theres a dichotomy there in that overseas leagues seem to value our players robust style, team play and athleticism, but our best athletes play in other codes.

I'd love to see us even the ledger with the other codes, but there needs to be a clearer pathway forward when the decision is made by the athlete about becoming professional or not.

Because he played fairly regular minutes in the erevidisie and bundesliga. Which Nisbet has not managed.

Career has fallen off the cliff no doubt. Probably over achieved to play in Germany and win the Europa league? Maybe Holland was his level.

I was bemused when Frankfurt signed him as he was always so isolated at Groningen in a poor boring side. He benefited from training at Frankfurt and had the occasional good cameo. He was played as a DM once and was terrible and it was the same issue in the national team. His better games were higher up the pitch.

His career has been full of bad decisions and timing. Moving to the worst places at his peak.

Hrustic needs to go back to the Netherlands. His best football was there. There's no way he deserves to be in the NT on current form though.

Nisbet has been declared the best player in the AL which very few (if any) other regular Socceroos have done.
 
The Robertson to Pompey rumours are interesting. I know it's probably just fans adding 1 +1 and getting 4 but it does make sense. Pompey need a CM and Robertson needs to be playing in a higher league than league one. It'd be a good fit. It'd also be good for the national team I think with the other Aussie boys there.

Not to mention Robertson's old man helped Segecic to Pompey. It would be a good move for him.
